Has anyone purchased a swim platform from swimplatforms.com? We’re on the verge of buying a job-hydraulic version for a tender. Would like to get some input on the company or the quality of the product.
Thanks

I bought a platform from them back in 2012. Overall when all said and done, I was very happy.

I ordered the platform for my year make. Received it, well packed. Went to install it, was not close (imo) to matching my boats.

So I called and they said make a pattern for your boat and mail it to them. They said keep the old platform, they will make me another from my pattern. Wait more time. Platform shows up. Still doesn’t fit. Ends up they didn’t use my pattern, they just found the closest mold they had to that radius. So I complains some more. They ended up sending me a check for $500. I sold the original platform for $400 and had about $550 in the platform I still had. So we did some sanding and got it to fit a lot better and it all worked out.

A recent poster said they had bad experience with delays due to COVID. No personal experience here.

Thanks Chris. Much appreciated.

Right now it’s a 12 week wait. I was hoping someone on the forum would have used it for a dinghy so I could get some feed back.

My swimplatforms.com platform was just installed 2 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. Great quality, installers were pleased, very sturdy. It's one of those "wish I had done it sooner" kind of upgrades.

Within 4 boats of mine at my marina there are now 3 swimplatforms.com platforms installed. One on an Oceans, two on Sea Rays. All owners very pleased with the setups. Leadtimes aside I'd recommend these guys to anyone.

thanks for the info. No issues with the added weight for the tenders?

I'll tell you on Tuesday :) I haven't run the boat with the dingy back there yet.

In terms of loading the transom that's a bit of a process to figure out. It starts with a call to Sea Ray. I believe the platform will hold a small car. Our transoms, however, do have limits.

let me know what you find. I was more concerned with the extended swim platform holding all the extra dinghy weight. When I spoke with the company on the phone they told me they strengthen the swim platform for those who use them with dinghys. Havent been able to discern how but that’s what I was told.

My performance feedback won't be very useful to you. I'm running a gasser 400. With your beastly diesels I think you will not notice the extra weight like I likely will...

I believe the "strengthening" is via the support struts, which I have. The stock platforms do not have struts on my model boat.

We’re an integrated platform on the 08’s so that’s not an issue. I was just curious what the extra strengthening looked like.

I ordered one and had it installed on a Maxum 2400SCR about 3 years ago....LOVED it, very sturdy and well made, and we especially loved the optional removeable P-handles for climbing out of the water that we ordered and I installed myself a year later. We were actually thinking about ordering that handle kit to install on our current Sea Ray 400 OEM platform, they sure making climbing out of the water easier and more "graceful" LOL

Stumbled across this thread when searching for info on installing the new platform. Does anyone have experience with how the install process is? Mine is in production right now and should ship out in about 2 weeks. It's being delivered to the boat yard that I will install it at. They have a forklift that I can rent pretty reasonably, I would assume that would make it fairly straight-forward to do.

I am also intending to install a few support struts as well, but my OEM platform didn't come with them so I would have to have them fabricated ahead of time and then custom fit them to the platform and transom. @Stee6043 did your struts come with the platform, or did you have them fab'd up by the installers? Were there spots to anchor them to the platform also?

Alternatively, should I just pay the yard to install it and be done with it? :)

Swimplatforms will provide you with the struts. They will not pre-drill any of the holes required for installation (not the struts, not at the transom). The platform comes in one piece, unmolested.

I highly recommend having pro's do the install. I had fleeting thoughts of a fork truck and two friends doing the work as well. Once I saw how huge that platform is I quickly changed my tune :)

Interesting, did you have to request the struts? I don't see it anywhere on the site. My OEM platform didn't have them, so I wonder if they base it on that. I can't see from your photo further up thread how they attached to the platform, do you have anything showing that detail?

I've contacted the boatyard to ask for a quote to install, I'd prefer to go that route unless it's gonna cost me an arm and a leg.

You will not have to request them, they will be included based on the size of the platform. The number will be determined by swimplatforms.com. The exact location will be determined by your installer. The attachment is a simple set of thru-bolts with sealant. Nothing fancy.

Around my parts the haul-out is half the cost of install. I was right around $2k total. $900 +/- of that was haulout and blocking for 2 days.

Yes...ordered one for my 1992 Wellcraft Gran Sport. They had already done one for a Gran Sport, however, when I got my platform it didn't fit. They were willing to build me a whole new patform, but we're pretty handy with this sort of stuff and after some work, we got it installed and it looks great! I now have one on order for my 1994 Searay 500, anticipating getting it sometime mid March so I can install before we have the boat trucked to us from W. OH. They have been very good to deal with and would definitely recommend.
