Hey Jim,

Thank you for taking the time to read thru this thread and reply.

I do like CSR.

I gain information, share my info with others when I feel I can help and share in the general conversations with other Sea Ray enthusiasts............ah heck why am I even bothering to reply to a only 1 green dot person. (kidding)

So this guy, SteveOgden, has one post. He does not own a Sea Ray. His one post is a question about someone else's electrical system. Yet he has a green button and the tag "...gives good advice."

Nothing against the man, his post, or question, but it does indicate a clear deficiency in the systems.

Best regards,
Frank C

If a person nets a couple of stars this system rates everything said in the past and yet to be said by that person as -as good as gold-. Maybe a way to rate specific advice/post/thread/topic would be more accurate. Easier said than done I know.

I don't think you can look at the system with a snap shot approach on 1 or 2 posts. However, if we use it, in the long run over some time, won't the totals begin to tell viewers who is reliable and who is not?

Time will tell. But I still have it turned off.

I'm curious to how many positive feedbacks I must share with others before I can give it to the same person again. I guess I will need to keep a tally. This also forces me to give potentially false love.

I've participated in false love before, I can do it again.

I don't even know where I rank at. it's all very samey.

I just got back from vacation and am trying to figure this thing out. Do you get a single point each time someone gives you a good rating? Somehow I've got 10 and I've only posted once in the last two weeks.

Just because you have it turned off doesn't mean we can't still add to or subtract from your rep :smt101:huh:

Aaron - You are just that good.

To the question about the new guy that comes in and only has one post and it is a question. He has not given bad advise yet so that is why he has one green dot. It will take a couple of well thougth out post to get to the 3 dot formula or whatever Mr. Webster gets next.

If they do give bad advice and someone gives them a negative post than they will be red after some time.

I do agree with you and I also voted to not have the reputation system.

I also just got a negative “I disapprove” from jg300da. He dinged me on this post
http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?p=120482#post120482

Ironically I had given him positive “I approve” on previous posts of his.

Like you I also have never given negative feedback. I usually run out of positive feedback every day.

This is not a board of webmasters like Jim is use to where these things are taken serious and work. This is a general hobby forum and its dividing the members into two main groups, those that want to mess the system up and give negative hits and those that are upset over it.

No way!! Doug, I never gave you negative feedback bro, as a matter of fact I never gave feedback of any kind to anyone! I don't even know how to do it, that's why I turned it off.
I apologize if it looked that way, but it's definitely a glitch in the system. Is it possible that because my post was tongue in cheek negative that the system automatically gave a negative review??

Hi Wes,

Look at your post from earlier today here

http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?p=120160#post120160

Click on the scale thing on your post. You will see my "I approve." I think only the person that gets the "+" or the "-" hit can see that. Others will not see what I am talking about on your post, they will see a box to add to or take away from your number.

Doug,

I know that and in your case it shows Presentation (I am assuming you typed your name) or did it put in there. In earlier examples I have seen a note and no name on who left the comment so when someone said your welcome and gave me a negative rating I could not find out who sent it, ok I could but I had to do a little investigating.

Wesley

Frank is getting gipped. You cant give him more love without giving to others first. So for every good post he has we have to false love someone else in order to give him more love. So if we dont keep track we forget about that good post, so ultimately he gets gipped. This technology has not taken into consideration the Webster factor, so I vote to give Frank a gold bar for every 3 green dots.

I sincerely apologize for getting it wrong. Someone else must have done it and copied what you said in your post in the comment.

Normally I type a comment, what I liked then add - Presentation

So its like "Great link, thank you - Presentation" or such.
