What’s the best way to clean the crud ring out of my shower sump sort of simply replacing it? I have cleaned it before but there is s as built up ring that I would like to remove. Any suggestions on cleaners?

I had to do major work on my whole shower drainage system this past season. Brad Arrington suggested using Zaal Noflex digestor to flush and clean the shower plumbing when I posted a similar question in another forum. If you're not familiar, Noflex works wonders keeping holding tanks clean and less odiferous. It also works great cleaning out shower sump box scum. For your particular project I'd dump a couple tablespoons in the shower box (with the pump off) and enough hot water (tea kettle hot, not tap) to cover the scum and let it sit for a while.

Once you get it clean, putting some down the shower drain may speed things up as well. The stuff is pricey about $35 a bottle, but used as a holding tank treatment lasts long enough to be more than reasonable. We're retired and we are on the boat just about every day of our season (mid May to mid Oct) and I bought four bottles and still have a partial and unopened full one on the boat.

Yep, I use NoFlex already. Box was relatively clean just has this old scum ring to get rid of.

It’s plastic, so try the stuff you use on your gelcoat. Compound, hull cleaner, Clorox cleanup, etc.

Maybe I missed something, but is this a visual or functional thing? If the sump is working fine why do you care about a scum ring?

toilet bowl cleaner should clean it right up.

Henry, look around for a better price. I’ve seen it for about $20/bottle.

i think if u buy several at one time its about $16 each at marine sanitation

You think that stuff is ok for the rubber/plastic plumbing?

Steve - What’s the water like? Could it be hard and leave mineral deposits? I gather this is from marina water, so if you don’t live in the area, or it’s well water you may need to do some research. What about something like CLR?

Where did you find it? I went direct to the company and initially they did have a deal. I don’t think it was as good as 29 though. I then discovered the company had an Amazon store, so I got it through there (prime membership).

I quit buying that stuff and switched to Carter's Poopy Powder. His formula works great and the raw ingredents come from Amazon for super cheap. I have a 3 gallon bucket mixed and sitting in the dock box. Search the no-flex threads and you will see it.

Pray tell, what is “Carter’s Poopy Powder”, and why are we just hearing about it now? Out with it young man! The full story, please.

I think Carter Chapman mixes his own power at a fraction of the cost after he researched the ingredients in NoFlex

Is the consensus that Carter’s Poopy Powder works? If so with the deal I just got at $15 per pound, CPP works out to be $ 3.79 per pound based on the Amazon links. Of course I figure the 5 pound recent purchase would carry us through the end of the 22 season, so 14 pounds could be a lifetime supply...

I think it works great...My pooper tank has never been cleaner.
