Finally received the new latch and got it installed...This looks so much better than the plastic Perko!!! The old one was getting cracked and just didn't look good. Why replace it with another plastic one when SS looks so much better// LOL

Just needed a little bit of sanding for the new latch to fit the cutout. I used a small drum sander with my drill...easy!!! I ordered th epart from BoatOutfitters.com and is labeled as
Stainless Steel Compression Latch 3" ~ Diameter SKU: 070-0162

Wolf, ever come across any thing like this courtesy light in your quest for all widgets in stainless.

This is an awesome upgrade. Is there any chance a 2.5" latch would have worked? You mentioned some sanding to make the 3" work so I am curious.

This is now officially on my list. Very cool. Thanks for spending some of my money!

Hi Jeff,
This is from my post on the 460 thread:

I think I found a cam latch in SS. It has a 3" diameter ring, not square, and the cut out size is only 1/32" larger than what we have at 2-3/8". This should work with very little if any modification.

Updated after installation:
Upon installation, the new latch diameter would fit into the existing hole but it was REALLY tight, too tight to get it all the way in...even if I buttered it up it wouldn't seat all the way down. Since I only had to sand out 1/32, it took about 10-15 minutes with several test install attempts.

I was worried the 2.5" latch wouldn't have enough top side surface area to hold since the cutout was 2-3/8". 1/16" all the way around was just too small for my comfort level.
