After swapping a few messages back and forth with Keithmo, we noticed that there is not an official 450 EB thread. From my research Sea Ray produced the 450 EB from late 1997 as a 1998 model to 2004 in both a two stateroom and three stateroom model. It replaced the 440 EB from 1997/8 and was 9" wider and 1'6" longer than its predecessor. Sea Ray used the hull from the 450 DA along with some elements and features from the DB line to build the 450 EB. Approximately 230 boats were made in the production run at the Palm Coast facility. Here is an article originally published in Yachting Magazine reviewing the new model back in 1998:
https://dicksimonyachts.com/blog/bo...-ray-450-express-bridge-review-positive-force

A PDF of the 2003 model is attached below.
Here is a nice video shot in the Delta where I found my boat:
Here is a "virtual tour" of the 3 stateroom model:

Boat #1 off the line named "WAYFARER" was produced in December 1997. I do not have any verification it is still in service, although it is currently registered with the USCG in Maryland:

Here is the oldest boat known to exist, #2 built in January of 1998, currently in Ontario Canada:

The 450EB was also used at Disney World for guests. VIP cruises were available on "... the Grand 1, a 45-foot Sea Ray 450 Express Bridge Yacht, offering private dining, butler service, and a captain. Cruises start at $399 per hour, plus tax (seats 18 guests — or 17 if traveling with a butler)."

Finally, here is a registry of known 450EB boats, based on the HIN# and Sea Ray internal #. I will update the list for every boat that we come across.

Approximately 109 boats on the registry as of October 2023:

Looking forward to this thread. We've has ours for 10 years w Cummins 6CTA's and could not be happier. We've put 1,500 hours on it and have gone from Jacksonville, FL to Key Largo, to Bimini and all points in between. just an awesome boat for our family. Does anyone know how many 44's & 45's were made?

I noticed on my boat a number just below the VIN on the starboard side rear transom that might be the production number? I have read and it seems to be the case that a lot of 3 stateroom models were made in the early production and more 2 stateroom models late in production. It seems like every 2003 and 2004 is a 2.

I have seen a total of six other 450s here in California over the past five months. One of the owners from Huntington Beach has owned his 2000, 3 stateroom model since 2002. He claims it is the only factory hardtop model that Sea Ray ever produced. He said that after it was built, it was sent to Europe on the boat show circuit for two years. He had over 5000 hours on the boat and was very excited to meet another 450 EB owner. I only have one, very poor, picture of his boat to share. Next time I see him, I'll get a better shot.

I'm looking to replace the carpet in the cockpit, flybridge stairs and flybridge on my boat. It seems like none of the aftermarket suppliers have the deck/stair patterns for the 450 EB with the exception of SeaDek. I communicated with Kelly Key on Facebook (Oasis below) and found out that they used SeaDek on her 450, but did not include the flybridge. I reached out to SeaDek and purchased the patterns for Kelly's boat, but I can't seem to find a pattern for the flybridge anywhere. I contacted several boat flooring installers here in SoCal and most of them are out of business or don't want to let me pay them to give me a laser measurement of just the flybridge. Does anyone here by chance have their flybridge flooring patterns or know where I can locate them?

Larry,
I haven't made it to my boat, but I found this picture on YachtWorld of the possible production number on a 2000 450 EB. It looks like it reads "450EB-50B" or "508". Does your boat have this, and if so what number?

Larry -- I am currently away from my boat but will check next week and let you know what number is showing on our 2002 450 EB. We have a 2 stateroom model.

Jim -- I do not have plans for the flybridge. I will reach out to the former owner of this boat to see if he has any ideas. Probably not, since the carpet doesn't look very new.

My HIN is SERP4450D999 450EB-553

From what I know about this, P is for Palm coast where the boat was built.

It was finished in Sept 99, and I believe the 53rd built. Can anyone decifer any more? But this does not tell me how much total were built. That's what I'm curious about.

I'm considering taking a look at this particular boat you referenced. We really are trying to find a 40ish sedan bridge, but those are tough to find and good ones seem to sell immediately. I do know my tween kids would like the 3rd stateroom in this boat so they could each have their own "room".

Anything particular to look for on an initial viewing? Are these boats V-drives or straight/direct drives?

Have you looked at the 450EB in GH? This boat has been within spitting distance of us at Grand Isle Marina for about 4 years. https://www.jbys.com/boat/2000/sea-ray/450-express-bridge/17045/

Yes, that's the one. I think the hull numbers posted above are from that boat. Has it been for sale for 4 years or just berthed there for 4 years??

Just berthed. I think they just put it up for sale at the end of the season as the kids have grown up, and they just don't use it like they once did. I think I only saw them a couple times all summer.

Larry, unless someone with intimate knowledge on the Sea Ray production numbers chimes in, I figure we might be able to get a close estimate on the total built from the that 450EB hull stamp number. Maybe we can get some 2004 owners to post their number for the end of the production run.

Laker Life,
The 450 EB has V-drives. With that boat having the Cummins package instead of Cats, you should be good to go. One note, access to the port side engine can be tight, so look carefully for any oil leaks there. My port side turbo had a leak that I didn't see but the engine surveyor caught. He was 5'5" and 130lbs and could wedge in there better than me to inspect it. There were reports of some of the early 98 boats having issues with water getting into the hull, but I think that was resolved by 00. I would suggest you carefully inspect the access hatch directly in front of the sink in the galley. Climb down into the small space and shine your flashlight through the holes that allow you to see the sump on the starboard side. The sump can be accessed for cleaning and maintenance by the hatch just outside the midship stateroom, but you can't see as much as you can from the center hatch.

Thank you!!

Here is my hull ID. #506 so maybe it’s the 6th built.

After our first trip on the hook this past Summer, I was not impressed with the amount of generator use needed to keep the house batteries charged. The previous owner had installed an AGM and lead acid battery in the house bank. The lead battery was on it's last legs, so I did some research on the possibility of installing lithium batteries along with a a new inverter/charger to update the 21 year old systems. My research along with some recommendations lead me to Battle Born from Nevada. https://battlebornbatteries.com/marine-systems/
I ended up with one of their marine kits that came with 6 batteries, the charger/inverter, a battery monitor, a alternator protection box and a solar module (solar panels not included). I made the phone call and found out that beautiful California would charge some sort of an import tax on lithium batteries coming into the state if I had them shipped here, so we opted to send them to Arizona first. Here are the boxes:
Lith8.jpg

And the contents:

Lith4.jpg

Out with the old:
Lith7.jpg

Lith5.jpg

And in with the new:
Lith1.jpg

Lith2.jpg

The battery monitor is also bluetooth compatible so I can monitor it from my phone. With the old stuff I had 400 amps that I could draw maybe 50% of. The new set up is 600 amps and the people at Battle Born say I can draw 90 to 95%. I still have to make a cover for the batteries and a small divider wall between the two banks of batteries, covers for all of the terminals and tie up some minor items, but I'm happy with how it came out. I'm not sure if I will add the solar module and panels at this point. I set up the inside breaker panel with another breaker next to the generator and shore power breakers so that with the inverter, I can run the port systems and galley systems on the 110 side from the batteries. I'm hopeful this will drastically reduce the use of the generator out on the water.

I talked to the broker on that boat. He said the seller is the one showing it (?) and since he lives an hour away and is very busy, he only wants to show it to very serious buyers. Said I basically would need to make an offer (contingent on viewing, etc) to see the boat. I'm not ready to do that.

I called Kevin the broker on that boat to see if he could get me in contact with the seller so I could maybe get the patterns for the cockpit and flybridge. He said he was a friend of the seller's and he would get back to me. That was a couple of months ago.
I would pass on making an offer under those terms. Another one will come up when you are ready.

If you did not see this in the General section, Frank Webster gave his insight on the hull numbers Sea Ray used to identify each boat. I was under the belief that we could look at the hull number from an early boat like mine and compare it to a 2004 450 EB to get an estimate on the total number of boats produced. Here once again is my hin and hull number followed by Frank's explanation:
SeaRayHull#.jpg

"The top number is the USCG required HIN # it is decoded as follows:
US. Boat was built for the US market
SER Vessel is a Sea Ray
P boat built in Palm Coast FL plant
4154 this is the serial number of the boat The next number in sequence could be a bow rider or a 680sss
G boat was built in July
8 boat was built in 1998
99 manufactured as a 1999 model boat

The lower number is an internal number for Sea Ray and their dealers and generally has no significance outside of Sea Ray and their dealers.

450EB is the boat model
506 is the hull number and is the number SR and the dealers refer to when they need to discuss a specific boat. This number is sequential within the factory but may change at a model year change."

Frank's key words are the hull number "may change at a model year change." LMBoat's hin and hull number are SERP4450D999 450EB-553. It probably is the 53rd boat built in April of 1999 in the 1999 model year. For the 2000 model year, Sea Ray reset the hull number and produced "450EB-508" from the ad picture I found on Yachtworld:
SeaRayEB#.jpg

This boat's hin is SERP4548G900, so it was also built in July, but a year and 394 boats after my boat.
It appears the only way to even estimate the total number of 450 EBs produced would be to have a list of hull numbers for each model year and add them all up. I was hoping it would be easier. :(

Here is a small update on my quest to get new exterior flooring in the boat as one of my winter projects. As I indicated in my earlier post, I have the patterns from Sea Dek for the cockpit, stairs and swim platform. I need the flybridge. I found out that Plas Deck has the pattern for part of the flybridge listed as a "450 Sedan Bridge" so I was excited that I might be able to purchase their samples. I passed when they said it would be $700 for the patterns and I would still need to make the template for the area behind the helm. I probably would have bit the bullet on the cost that would be applied to the purchase of their complete kit if the overall cost wasn't too bad. The quote was for 10 to 12k.
PlasDeck.jpg

That motivation got me tracing my old carpet on to the template maker that Corinthian marine flooring produces. I removed the carpet and placed the plastic template maker material on the ground in my marina parking lot. I made the two pieces fat by 2" all around and then placed them back in the flybridge where I trimmed them to fit.
Carpet4.jpg

Once I have everything complete, I should have a set of templates that I can share if anyone else needs them.
