Dingy outboard

HIGHLY recommend this. Mine runs like a champ, most times starts first pull. you will not beat the price, I love mine. I've had Mercs, great motors but twice the price.

That is a screaming deal! $300 less than a Tohatsu 2.5hp. But if you shop Amazon like I do, I generally sort the reviews by most recent. It looks like 2020 was a bit of a struggle for the Coleman. I'd pass purely based on reviews (as I do with many online purchases)....but clearly some people are enjoying that motor.

I picked up a 6 hp 2 stroke Johnson a few years back. It's an old thing but with a little tlc she has served me well. Beats the heck out of these new motors that crap out the first season of use.

I agree. The so called old technology has it all over the new stuff. I have a 1990 4hp Mercury (2 stroke) $200, and a 2000 2.5 Mercury (2 stroke) ($200) and both will run great all day long . All you need to do is make sure they have good fuel and impeller.
Oh yeah did I say how much lighter they are than 4 strokes.....

Thoughts on a Nissan 3.5hp 2 stroke? Looking at a Zodiac with a little Nissan engine on it.

Would be fine for getting to shore. Most likely would not get on plane.

Really would be for the kids to mess around with around the marina and while we are anchored out. Also need to figure out how to transport it, brackets on the swim platform?

So what are you trying to do....just make it to shore from the boat, ability to plane off with light load? What type of Dinghy are you pushing?
