12V heater

This is the heater I use.

Runs on propane cylinders and automatically shuts off if low oxygen is detected or if it is tipped over. I use it to heat up before bed. and fire it up in the morning before I get up. I don't run it over night, but many do. The key is having a functional CO detector and cracking a window.

I use that one to keep warm when working in the boat during the winter when it is blocked up out of the water. It does a decent job of keeping the chill away if I keep it close.

While potentially possible - running a 110v heater off of an inverter would take a decent sized (expensive) inverter and would require alot of your battery bank. Then you have the step of recharging your battery bank as well. We could run the numbers but propane would be a better choice.

An additional note about propane - When you heat with it, it does release a fair amount of water vapor which will start to condense on cold surfaces (windows, hatches). Might be good to have a few towels the first time around, and/or the ability to help vent the cabin afterwards. Granted, depends on how long you run the heater.

I would think a small propane solution would be the best plan. 12V does not have a great deal of heating capability.
a typical 1500W heater will draw ~ 12-14 Amps off 120V. Doing the math the same heater at 12V will draw over 120 amps. You may find a hand warmer or small 100W unit but it will not warm much.

I got a 12 volt coffee maker for the jetboat. It took 30 minutes to get hot water and the cigarette lighter got hot. The fuse blew in the coffee heater once. I watched a Utube on Mr Heater where a real fire department monitored the heater for one complete 1# burn in a 100% closed RV and the gas level were zero all the time. Only problem seems to be they produce humidity. I am going to get one now.
