Trying to get to the bottom of an issue with the shower pump/switch and I was running power from the aft accessory plug to test pump which works. Seem to have blown something because the aft cabin 12v accessory plug no longer has power. Can anyone help me understand where I can look for this.

Some notes on what I have done.
  • The other accessory plugs at the captain station and at galley are working
  • The main accessory switch is on
  • There are no accessory switches in the Main Panel on the firewall in the bilge
  • The fuses (pop up) in the glove box at the driving station are normal and not popped.
Where else can I look to understand why this 12 volt accessory outlet is not working.

Thank you,
Roger

Is that an OEM plug or something an owner added? I don't believe I have a 12v plug in my aft berth and most features of our 330's are the same. Either way, trace the wires back as far as you can. There may be an in-line fuse somewhere. If the others work, its obviously not wired to the electrical panel accessories breaker like the others. That is why I suspect it is not an original Sea Ray thing.

Hi Creekwood,

Thanks for your reply. This 12V "cigarette lighter" plug is located beside the 120V outlet in the cabinet (drawer & cupboard) of the rear bunk which is the kid's bed. I assumed it was factory because it is controlled with the accessory switch in the main panel. I can see some wires but it is really difficult to access even when removing the drawer. I will follow back as far as possible and see if I can find a fuse there somewhere. I was wondering why shorting didn't pop the breaker/fuse in the glove box. Nothing is ever easy right!!

All the best,
Roger

Hmmm. Mine has a phone jack and a 120v jack in that spot. Why a phone jack was considered necessary in 1997 is beyond me, but there is also a phone and cable TV inlet beside the shore power inlet too. Have you looked at your wiring diagram:

Thanks again Creekwood!

Imagine a phone line how times have changed. I guess that my plugs have been put in by the previous owner. I have looked at the wiring but seeing as this is probably aftermarket it doesn't seem to show. I will work to pop out the plug and see if there is an inline fuse. Will update with what I find.

Thanks again!

Roger

I don't believe I have one on my 340... However, I have been having similar issues with the 12v outlet on the dash.. Same symptoms as you are having... I'm in salt water, and I think I might a ground issue... I have not tried to fix it yet, but its on my list...

Thank you rcknecht, there is always something to work on. I am going the boat today so will see if I can get to the bottom of this issue.

After more investigation I see that the previous owner installed the DC 12V plug beside the 110 plug and phone/cable plugs. They ran the wire through the drawer/cupboard out the back into the hanging locker under the carpet up the wall where my aftermarket amps are installed then up to the cockpit into the glovebox where it terminates onto a breaker.

I still haven't been able to pull the DC outlet plug out to see if there is a fuse right there before it runs up and terminates into the "glovebox" panel. I don't get how to pull this out "unlock" to see the rear of the plug. I would have excepted the glovebox breaker to have "popped" but I don't see anything popped. More as I continue the exploration. Will try to get some pictures added.

Well I am back to report that there was a fuse on the 12 volt DC plug. This was wired into the positive bus that was behind my after market stereo on the dash. When I was installing a new USB plug at the dash I found the wire and fuse. Replaced the fuse and all outlets are working again. DM if you have any questions or need follow up.

Thanks everyone.
