Hi - I just bought my SD 290 and in the galley 2 of the drawers' round push buttons are stuck, pushed in - I am replacing them so if I damage them it's not a problem.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Just keep pushing. I had one that would stick and always got it open by pushing on it. Eventually it would pop open.

That worked for the one that had some play in it but the one that is still stuck has no play - it is push all the way in.
Thank you for your quick reply1

Bang on the door. If i push mine and it does not pop out i bang on the door and that normally works. What are you replacing them with. I hate my gold ones and would love to swap out to something new

Awesome, thanks. Iv been wanting to change the 90's gold scarface mafia style since i got it. Swapping out all 14 with the brushed nickel ones. Only thing i hate about the boat is the gold

Sometimes you almost have to flick them - like a really quick push and release. Once you get it open you can pull it out.

Haha - my thoughts exactly! Good description. Now if I could just find a low-height microwave that fits where the Goldstar is!

I just bought this 1998 - do these just get "sticky" after 5 or 10 years? I wonder if I should just replace all of them so I'm not dealing with a hit or miss each time.

Some of mine are sticky and some are fine. Just remember its a 1998 boat. Gotta freshen things up every once and a while. I swapped out my kitchen faucet, all the spray handles, speakers, electronics and now doing a fusion radio

Also. Remember to update your CO2 detectors. Easy swap out and about a $100 x2 for a good poece of mind

When we bought our boat we went through and replaced all of the latches that were finicky. I learned very quickly just the spend the money and fix the things that are annoying, because they don't get any better. Not done fixing yet.

Wow! - I have 5 in the galley, 2 for the electric control board switches and 2 under the seat.
Let me know where else there are some.
Also, I do not have the 2 dinette bench seats and center table, in case that makes a difference.
Thank you

1- back bed room closet
2- under seat by table
1- radio door
1-door next to fuse panel ( bar)
2-under sink doors
3-slide out draws under sink
2- under tv
2- over sink

WQe have a different layout, BUT the 1 back bed room closet is one that I missed. Thank you!

After using my thumb to push the stuck button dozens of times over several days, I pulled out, what else? My hammer, and after maybe 20 firm taps the button popped! Needless to say it has been replaced!
Thank you everyone for your replies

The latches get sticky because the construction is pot metal, which is mostly zinc. The Zinc corrodes slightly on the surface making it a bit rough and then none of the parts slide well. You can take them apart and clean them up with fine sandpaper or steel wool and use a light corrosion spray like WD40 to prevent or slow the corrosion.

I found that out the hard way. I always have a small bleach bottle on board for adding to the water tank. One time the cap was slightly loose in the cupboard. The chlorine vapours made the corrosion worse and I had a hell of a time getting the latch open. That was when I clued into why the others were getting “sticky”.
