Remember when people use to flash their brights warning of an Officer running radar? Where did that one go?

Saved by that, just yesterday! Approaching the top of the hill where on the otherside near the bottom every so often a traffic cop/thief will be sitting there, waiting to rob us of our money. A car comes up and over and gives me a single flash. Did I just see that? Let off the gas, glided over the top, at just above speed limit. There he was! hahaha, I just stared at him with a smile as I drove by (wanted to do quite a bit more).

At the bottom, I rounded a turn and saw two cars coming around toward the cop. Gave them both a couple of flashes. I was greeted by brake lights on both of them in my rearview mirror. I felt pretty good. What's that phrase, "pay it forward"? :smt001

Every weekend we sit out on the deck with the air horn in hand. When people are going by faster than they should, we give a quick blast of the horn, as do others on the other docks. And what do ya hear??? F YOU!

I agree with everything Presentation stated; I always wave (same goes with classic cars) and get about a 95% return on the water.

But no offense, If there's a couple just lounging on their deck with an air horn blowing it at others becuase we're going a little too fast based for their comfort level, I'd probably audible the same phrase, though maybe not loud enough to be heard if my kids were on the boat...

I've never had anyone get mad at me on the water, and I'm always ultra-respectful, but it seems a lot of people get all bent-out-of-shape about wakes; like those Presentation mentioned. Sheesh, if you don't like your boat to roll a little, put it on a trailer!

I was talking about being docked at the marina. It is a "NO WAKE ZONE" Cruising by at anthing over 1000 rpm and you really rock the hell out of the boats in their slips.

no one waves much in new York. Too many people here, my arms would fall off by the end of the day.

Every ones an expert.

I have found myself in a few situations where other boaters have been just plain sh%$ty. Just this past weekend we were headed back up our creek with my 13 yr old daughter at the helm(right next to me) and there was a sailboat anchored dead in the middle of the channel. Another boat was headed towards us and it was only a little tight because he caused it to be tight. I commented to him that the sailboat was definitely in the middle of the channel and his reply was the We should have gone around the other side. I thanked him for the driving lesson(really wanted to end the thank you with You A-hole but did not).

We also run into folks that anchor in the middle of the channel and wave their fist at you for getting too close. Then there are the pilots of large, not quite on plane, cruisers that make 4' wakes in narrow areas that you can stay at planing speeds and nearly swamp the little boats just outside the channel.

Geez, don't get me wound up. Most boaters are helpful and friendly. Even sailors wave back out on the bay. I won't even mention the family at our marina that was blasting heavy metal music and every other word was MF. Even my teenage daughters commented on how rude they were as we got away as quickly as possible.

When I had a motorcycle i waved to all bikers...when we had a Corvette we waved to all vets...and, with the boat, we wave to ALL boaters.

This is our first experience on the Bay in open water...we are used to bass boats on the river...but we were surprised to see the number of fishing boats sitting in the middle of the channel.

We put as much distance as we can between us and them...so far so good out here..I am wiating for the finger or the fist though.

We wave at everyone.

We wave at the sailboats, at the jetskis and even the bayliners. Even when we are on the sailboat or the jetski.

"even the bayliners."

I love it...what about the Maxums?

All these sailboats is something new for us to deal with...we wave, usually no return wave though.

Maybe it's a Maryland thing... but I get flashed a fair amount to warn me of speed traps. Of course I try to pay it forward whenever I can.

See?? there are still good people left in the world. (boy, did I really just say that??)

I saw the same sailboat Eddie, in front of the Wild duck......... What a DUDE....
With all the traffic right there, why in the world would he ever even think of putting it there???? Couldn't be a smooth place to sit and relax with all the boat wakes and the trafic passing by ya.

But go figure..........

Doug-

Get a bigger horn. Those SeaRay things might not be loud enough to get noticed if some one is slightly underway.
As far as the Wave here in MKE I think we near 99%. We are still small enough a town that any one will help anyone in need with out question.

Hope to be back on the pond by 6 tonight! Summerfest is on!
