For all those with 210 Select's to discuss their issues/ask questions.

Hello all. I really love my 210 Select and only have a couple of minor issues with my 210 Select. I have the upgraded buckets and the flip up rear bench that makes the huge sunpad. My issue is that the buckets (yes, both) seem a bit loose. It is like they rock a bit too much and just don't feel solidly mounted. I had the dealer look at them and they said that they are secure and the slight looseness feel is due to the slider plate (for sliding the seat forward and back). The other issue is that there is no height adjustment for them. Do you have any of these same experiences with your 210 Select? As I said, I (and the family) love the boat.

I have a 2008 210 select with 350 dts b3,The boat has had alot of problems, screws fell out under the dash that was at 2 hours on the boat, the seats are very loose, the ice chest leaked, the windshield is loose, the back hatchs open up by them self weak magnets, the nav stoped working, the trailer lights were shorted out, the alternator wire was melted because they did not tighten the bolt so it was shorting out

Yeah, mine have this same rocking motion, albeit slight, it's there. I have the same setup, bucket/flip-up bench. It would be nice if they adjusted up/down too. I crawled under mine, and checked that everything was secure, it was.

I have the same 5.0L motor as you, what do you have for a prop? I have a 3 blade 19P Vengence Mercury Prop. I ran the Mercury Prop selector tool, and it came up with a 22P prop. I might talk to my dealer, and see if they think the 22P would work.

Oh, one other question, how do you have your depth alarm setup? Do I have to remove the screen to stop it from alarming, when I go above 30 mph in deep water?

I too have a Vengeance 14x19 3 blade. It was the one that came on it when I bought the boat. I get 47 mph repeatable at ~4850 RPM, so I am not too worried about changing it right now (higher things on the list currently). I ran a prop selector (a while ago) on turning point propellers and it was saying a 14 1/2x19 (gen use) or a 14 1/2x21 (top end).
I have the smart tach. Do you have it as well? IIRC, whenever an alarm comes in, it will switch to the screen that has the alarm on it. You should be able to acknowledge it and go to another screen; however, the word "Alarm" will stay on the screen in the corner until the condition clears. I don't have any problems with my depth alarm going off above a certain speed. I'd have the dealer check it out. What depth is it set at? PLEASE TELL ME, does it have an audible depth alarm, or just the blinking screen? I have never HEARD my depth alarm, but I have seen it blink. Honestly, I don't know what it is set at. I found out how to change it and haven't been out since to check. :smt021 Maybe this weekend... (30%+ chance of rain).

The first time it comes up, it does have an audible alarm. To modify whether the alarm screen is on, you go into Cal 1. (hold the mode/+ button for 7 seconds - move between screens via the mode button) to show it, you go into Cal 2 settings I believe. I need to play with it some more. I'd like to have it visible, but without the alarms. I have a feeling, either it shows and does alarms, or it doesn't show. You can get the Smartcraft manual (same as in owners manual set) on the Mercury Marine Web Site. It's sometimes easier to search online than on hard-copy.

Got to mess around with it on Saturday. Reset the depth alarm and it is audible. Thanks for the directions. I was getting a lot of blips for shallow depth (like ~55-60' deep and then an instantaneous 2' and alarm). I'm going to have the dealer check it out when I take it in for my new carpet.

If you want to silence the depth alarm, set it to 0.0' (that's where mine was). It will not alarm. That way you avoid the alarm altogether. HTH!

I also found one more little thing that I don't like. My truck keys fell from the glove box into the cooler in the chop (twice). Luckily they still worked after being under the ice cold water. It seems there is a gap in the port side of the glove box adjacent to the door. Oh well, I'll just get a small dry box or put anything I want to stay dry together in a bag.

re: Did this help?

Yes, it did! I set it to 0 yesterday, and no more alarms, but I still get the depth readings I wanted.

Thanks! (Nice boat btw!)

Glad to hear it. You have a nice boat too!
(I guess we're the only two on here with 210's.)

I finished my transom remote install yesterday. That was a little nerve wracking (to cut a hole in the boat), but it all turned out well. Do you have a bow ladder? I was thinking about adding one, but (at the dealer) it will be over $400. I guess I'll be swimming around to the back. I think the next mod is going to be a dual battery setup of some sort. Any plans for yours?

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm ready to cut a hole in the boat yet. I don't have a bow ladder. I thought about it, but I'm ok without it. I already have the remote trim and stereo remote out on the swim platform. I'd like to get the camper canvas for it, so I might extend the season more on both ends. I've also thought about putting the box around the battery(strbrd side) and the pump(prt side) that is in the '08 models. I like that the boxes keep your stuff away from these items. I'd like to find some sort of rubber mount for my anchor up front vs just letting it sit in the bow like that. I can't think of anything else I might put on it. I've looked at the towers, but I doubt I'd use them much, my gf and I don't wakeboard much, mostly a little tubing and water skiing. Most of the time, we cruise to a nice bay, and drop anchor, and swim and soak up the sun. Sometimes we just cruise around. I have the blue LED's to light up the cockpit like what's in the Fusion, but I don't have them installed yet.

There's a couple other 210 folks on here I've talked to in the past, they're probably out on the water!

I saw your other thread on the stereo remote install, good job!

Hmmm, I haven't had anything fall thru on mine, I'll have to check it out, and see if I have that gap.

ayup! I have that gap too!!! Looks like the floor of the glove compartment was cut with a rounded edge, and the corner goes to more of apoint, leaving a gap that I can put about 3 fingers into! Good catch, I'll have to make sure I don't put any keys or anything small in that box, unless I put them in a zip lock, or some sort of dry box like you suggest. I do have a waterproof money/key holder that's small that I could use.

Well I don't have a 210, but instead a 04 200 Select. I guess its close enough for a post, you guys looked lonely.LOL We have had very little to no issues with the boat. This is our first boat, and with the oppurtunity to drive older boats (non Sea Ray) in the past, we are still amazed everytime we take it out on the water. The Bravo III is just amazing. It is so easy to steer as well as dock since I am not fighting the steering. The power out of the water is just right for us, and the looks we get, well their priceless. I have also felt that other Sea Ray sport boat owners give you a nice wave and even come down from dinner to say hi when we pull up to the dock at our water side resturant.

Only thing I have a question on is if I turn the steering almost all the way and give it throttle I get a knocking noise from the B3. This only happened once since I learned not to do that again. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, how often do us B3 guys really need to get the Stern drive realigned. How important is this? We have 130 hours on ol Blue.

Well, we are really looking forward to a long day on the water this Friday!!!

I don't have a B3, but it sounds like something to do with the u-joint-like part of the drive binding up.

Yeah, the weather for this weekend Friday thru Sunday looks perfect!

Can I Join In?? I have a 2007 230 Select..
We also love it. I have seen items fall from the glove box to the cooler. I dont use the cooler. We find it easier to use a small cooler and put it in front of the admirals port seat. I have seen myself using the buitin cooler for trash.
We have the 350 w/ B3. Wonderful match..
Never will I own another Alpha.

Somebody mentioned buying a bow ladder in the thread..
I have never used the bow ladder and if you guys would like I sell it for 1/2 price of new... Like I mentioned we have never used it. I dont like to beach our boat..
It is sitting in my garage gathering dust. Ill even send all the hardware...

Let me know

Count me in on the 210 Select. Mine's an 07 with 5.0L Merc. We've really enjoyed ours since we've modified it a bit. Still have trouble with the walkway hatch blowing open during travel. I tried putting on a 30lb gas shock but it's still pops open while trailering. I'm thinking of downgrading to a 20lb to see how that works. In the mean time, I have a bungee cord holding it down. I also wished my helm seat had a way to lower/raise. I've asked MM about modifying it and they said they could cut the tube a little to lower the seat. Other than that, we love our new boat.

Here are some pics from the water. I just swam around taking different shots. I'll get some pics of the interior next time. The wife packed the camera yesterday for the trip, but didn't grab the memory card out of the computer :smt021. (I had these pics from before.)
