Hi. I have a 2003 Sundancer. Some of black backing from the deck carpet has adhered to the deck. Any recommendations for how to remove it. Thanks

I had the same issue with my 2005 Dancer. I recall using Brakleen (aerosol solvent) and a floor brush.

I sprayed the backside of the carpets with a spray rubber coating from Rustoleum (2 coats) that worked well to restore the coating.

This topic has received a lot of keyboard time over the years. You should do a search to see some of the stuff has been tired. Not to be a downer, but starting to put pennies away for replacements is the only real long term solution.

The carpet is fine. Its the rubber backing that’s stuck to the deck that I want to remove

Right about the carpet, that’s the frustrating part. Without the backing the carpet will not stay in place even with snaps. With the boat stationary it’s just irritating to walk on. With the boat moving it becomes dangerous.

Problem is the backing does not fail uniformly. The irony is that the stuff that has not yet come off is epically stuck on, making removal a bunch of work. So it becomes the gift that keeps on giving and just like bad bottom paint, you’ll be working on them fixing new bare patches, and scrubbing deck on a regular basis.

Now as counterpoint, depending on choice of carpet, you should be able to buy replacements (with longer lived backing) for your 260 for around $600.
