Prop issues 1998 290 Sundancer with twin 5.7

I have a 1998 290 Sundancer with twin 5.7's The boat has 14.5 x 19P stainless steel props great shape. It dogs trying to get up on plane with three other couples on board. Need to have people walk toward the bow. Also runs around 3600 to keep it up on plane.

Someone suggested to go to 18P props. hey say it gets up faster and runs around 400 rpms slower.

Same boat, motors, and originally the same props as you.

first, what rpm does it turn at wide open with a full tank, gear, and a couple people on board?

the 19s definitely take some extra revs to stay on plane, they slip a bunch on our boat. 3600 sounds about right with full tabs and those props

I went to 4 blade 21” aluminum diamond4 and can hold plane as low as 2800 rpm. Wot with full fuel,2 people, water, and gear is about 4500 rpm 40mph.

because I like to tinker and throw money at the boat for no reason I might try to 4 blade turning point dual geometry aluminums this year. They’re pretty cheap and I’d like to turn 4700-4800 early in the year so that as the bottom gets slimy over the season I stay in the range.

I get 1.0-1.2mpg at ~26mph/3350 rpm with the diamonds

What was the motivation for going to aluminum props?
Corrosion?
Cost?
Weight?
Etc?

Google PropMD and give them a call. They steered me in the right direction several years ago with my 300 Sundancer and had the best price on the new props.
The boat jumped out of the water with the props (15 1/2 X 17 3 blade stainless) they set me up with.

to be honest it was for my first test, I didn’t want to sink money into SS until testing them and planned on buying the SS equivalent. Turns out they work great so just stuck with them. They were only $90 each
