We all have $5k sitting around, not a thing to do with it and it's got to be invested this week. Who can pick the biggest returning stock as we dig out of the Covid-19 crisis?

Post your pick (ticker symbol), today's price and how many shares you end up with. Let's see what this thing looks like in 4, 6, 12 weeks.

Hmmm....for me....let's see. I'm going airline. Delta

DAL - $27.63 per share. 180 shares are now mine...for the purposes of this thread :)

What would you guys pick?

Delta bonds just downgraded by S&P to junk status.

Yesterday Roku was hovering around 63. Today so far, 100. 79 shares.
rode the last roller coaster from 30 to 180, lets see what the next loop de loop is.

Bought BRK-B at $161 yesterday - $230 two months ago. Bought DAL at $22 day before yesterday. 60 prior to all this (high risk - I can afford to lose the $10K investment, but the reward may be high).

I'm going with 36 shares of Zoom (ZM). Didn't really drop during this (actually hit 52 week high yesterday) and it may take more than your time frame to make a good profit. I think this is a long time hold.
Another one that I have done extremely well on is Shopify (SHOP). So 12 shares of SHOP.
I own it and believe it is a great long time hold also.
I first bought at $92 and sold when it doubled (mistake). Re-bought at $300 and still have.

Great thread, it's way easier being wrong here than it is in your E-trade account.:D:D:D

Well today I bought 3 June DIS $130 calls at 1.46 each (options is x100 so it's $146 each). Also bought 400 shares of WTI (crude) at 1.64 each.

For fun I will go with DIS. 51 shares at 98.00 each. Lot's of cheapies out there right now. I think ROKU, TSLA, DIS and AAPL will all be good plays

Hope you're right. I bought some in my IRA.
Good luck. I have been day trading AAPL options for about the past week about 3 or 4 times a day, both up and down. Today I bought the DIS call options and added to my WTI in my IRA account. Looking to add to the WTI at least a few more times and may sell 1 or 2 of the DIS contracts if I'm up nicely at a resistance point and buy back again on dips or may sell calls against my calls. That's a strategy that isn't used often but I have done it a few times. If I think DIS will drop temporarily I can sell calls against the calls I already have. If you aren't allowed to sell naked calls in your account and don't have enough funds to buy 100 shares of a stock to sell calls against then you can use the calls you already hold. Once I'm confident the market is back on track I will buy shares of various stocks and in mild pullbacks sell calls against them to make money on the downside. Day traded AAPL (6x), SQ, and TSLA today in my day trade account. Not all were winners but a good day in the end.

Bought some Hertz Global Holdings HTZ a week ago for under $4.00, went up to more than $5.00 by last Friday & bought more, today it closed at $8.21 - nice to get a bump that fast. By next year at this time I think it could go over $15/share but who knows...

Boatman you know way more about this stuff than I do. I somewhat know a little about options, but probably only enough to get me in trouble. I have never done options and don't really day trade at all either. Almost all my money is with my financial advisor in IRA's and Roth's. I have a little playing around money in my E-trade just to help me learn and sometimes have fun. Sometimes not so fun. Good luck

Here's where we're at so far. Good stuff.

Not wanting to fool around with my brokerage account or get my broker involved, I opened up an online no fee trading account last week and put 2k in it to fool around with.
The value as of right now is $3356.
Not too shabby!
The single biggest winner of the bunch is MGM. Bought 100 @ 7.00. Up 111% right now. Wish I would have grabbed more.
The underperformer is Ford. Bought 100 at 5.05, only up about 15% right now
Live Nation 10 shares up 85%
AMC 10 shares up 69%
Halliburton 100 shares up 57%
Still have a few bucks in cash but no other real cheap is I want yet.

If I was smart I’d bail out today, but I’m going to let it ride for a while.

I’ve picked up some bargains through my regular broker in recent weeks with some cash I had after trimming a little fat, but those are for long term. I’m not usually a trader. More of a buy and hold guy.
Some of the things I bought more of in my regular accounts at discount levels in the last few weeks were Disney, Visa, Microsoft, Caterpillar and Amazon.
My predictions for the biggest winners in that group are Disney and Amazon.

Roku was my big miss last year.
Wanted to buy it as soon as it came out of the gate, hesitated and the right opportunity never presented itself again.
After using their devices for years I knew it would be a winner.

15% gain is one heck of an "underperformer"!!

Lol!
I won’t mention how much I’m down in my regular brokerage accounts.
I have bought some Ford there too recently, but It’s still down there.
No big deal though. I’m not a trader. When I buy things it’s generally with the idea that I’m going to hold them for a long time.
