I need my 33 Sundancer hauled from Buffalo, NY to Detroit, MI. Anyone have any recommendations out there? Or even companies to stay away from. What to look for in a company or anything of that nature. Who have you used and what was your experiences. Thanks in advance. William

I used Lockview Marina out of Cuyuga NY to haul our 330 DA from the St. Lawrence to Buffalo. I was working and didn't have the time to move it on it's own bottom. That was 20 years ago and worked fine. I know they still haul, but no recent experience.

That would be a great over the water trip next spring.

I had Dave's Marine Transport ship the same model last spring from Kentucky to Mackinaw City. Completely satisfied with the service I received. He arrived on time, delivered a bit ahead of schedule, and took payment via credit card when delivery was complete. Has the ability to launch from the trailer so hiring a travel lift wasn't required at the destination.

Is your boat running still? For several weeks yet you could still make the trip via water in a weekend, with a decent weather window? I don't think we have any ice this far south yet.

I bet you'll be over $2k easily to move the boat over land. It'll be a cold run but you could drive her on the water for a whole lot less :)

Getting fuel might be a problem. All of the marinas on the west end of the lake are closed. I'd wait til spring for lots of reasons, including stopping at some great places along the way.

Mainly out of curiosity, I solicited a quote from one of the haulers recommended above to transport my 29’ center console from Florida to Michigan next spring. I must say I was pretty shocked at the $5,900 one-way quote...

Based on four quotes I received for transport services last year, that sounds like a good quote. My charge was about $5.50/mile. That was in the middle range of the quotes I received. At that rate, Jupiter to Charlevoix would be over $8K but I imagine a lot depends on time and scheduling to possibly fill a return trip.

I always had my 300da moved on a back haul or "off migration" - from RI to South Florida my average cost one way was $2500

If you have the opportunity to move it via the water, I'd do that over hauling on a trailer. Not sure if the boat is "new to you". If it is, it's a perfect way to learn everything about her. If its not, what better way to enjoy time on the water. May take a little bit, but....
I bought mine in Detroit, and brought her up and around to Grand Haven. Best sea trial I could have done. Learned what the boat (and I) could handle. Best trip ever!

I can point you in the direction of a good delivery captain, if you're interested. Send a message if you are...

Have you had it transported this route in years past?
For that price my hitch is available haha!

Don't mean to hijack this thread, and please tell me I should start a new one if this is incorrect...

Has anyone had any experience with Lighthouse Boat Transport out of Lindenhurst, NY?
There pricing seems very competitive and the discussion of what they do/don't do was complete.

Thanks!
