The Bahamas Tourist Office is scheduling 4 "flings" from Fort Lauderdale to different islands in the Bahamas. They take up to 30 boats max, have a captains meeting the night before, provide a lead boat and schedule some events at each location. The first one leaves for Bimini Big Game Hotel and Marina Thursday June 19th and comes back early June 22nd. It's about a 2hr trip and should be a lot of fun. I've signed up to go and they have about 8 spots left, so if anyone is interested, let me know and I can give you the info..There is a $75.00 sign up fee which helps to offset the cost of the lead boat and party. Minimum size for Bimini is 22'.

Cool, but Gary will give me a hard time if I sign up with my 240SD:grin:

Have they posted a new link somplace about on the Web?

sent you the email...let me know if you received it..

Their minimum size boat for Bimini is 22', though I think it's a little on the small side...

anyone interested, email me at barry.g@mac.com, and I'll attach the info with the contact name and number at the Bahamas Tourist Office. They have less than 10 spots left...

Is this stemming from the post where someone asked "Would you take a sundeck to the bahamas?" type of question and I said "not me"? I'm not going to give you a hard time.

There is a big difference in sea worthiness of 22' boats. A 22' Grady White style boat with dual Yamahas bolted on the back is not the same as a single engine open bow sea ray.... but we don't need to go here again.

Go for it! Take pictures!

How about I go buy us a 22' Ponton party barge and take 15 people with me.

Funny...

But for those that are interested in the purpose of this post, there are now about 5 spots left for the trip, put on by the Bahamas Tourist Council. A few CSR members have signed up and if anyone else is interested, let me know...No KFC, but there will be some conch chowder on the island...

OK, about 1 week till the trip..Last I heard from the Bahamas Tourist office they had over 25 of the 30 allowed spots filled. Did anyone sign up? If there is anyone still interested, drop me a pm or email me at barry.g@mac.com and I'll give you the contact info.

I'm signed up for Bimini on the 19th. It should be a nice trip. Hope to meet you at the Captains meeting next wednesday.

That's great Ray,

I'll be there.. I'm moving my boat from my house out west to the Bahia Mar Marina Wednesday so I can be all set for the early morning run Thursday as it would take me about an hour or so at minimum wake to get there otherwise.

See you then !

Ray, did you sign up with Customs for the Local Boaters Option? You can go and register your boat, you and your crew and when you get back to S. Fla, all you have to do is call in, rather than all of you going there to declare.

If you need more info, email me.

As a matter of fact I ordered my customs decal online today. As to the local boaters option, thanks for the heads up ... I'll get that started tomorrow, sure will save time and headache.

Thanks

Ray

I found the application and hopefully I'll have boat closed in time for the 1 week July trip. I called them in Plantation but have not been able to get a response on intinerary and so on. Do you have a link that might outline the trips? Thanks.

Email me at barry.g@mac.com, and I'll give you Karen's number and email at the tourism office here in Plantation.

What are you getting, and where do you live??

We are leaving Thursday morning and am looking forward to getting away and taking the boat over.
