Lake St Clair Canadian Harbors

Ontario has some of the best destinations in the Great Lakes, but none of them are on LSC...

If you’re plan a trip, keep going. Each port along Lake Huron is 20x better than the few LSC ports.
 
Thanks. We have a Club trip planned to LSC, but we're thinking of making a couple of stops on our way back to Lake Erie. We've been to virtually all of the scenic Lake Huron ports on both US and Canadian side so though there might be some interesting ones on LSC as well.

I'm surprised Amherstburg hasn't put docks in.

I was actually going to mention that if you're part of a group, the Thames river is not a bad destination - you just have to bring your own fun. There's plenty of scenic bulkhead/parkside dockage and space to spread out and relax. It's a good place to explore by dinghy. I'm not a fan either - but it's a club trip and I'm not one of the decision makers. We'll probably only stay with the group one night there. Tell me more about north channel yacht club.

It's a member run YC. Bar, restaurant... it is in full swing on the weekends. It's an island but they do have a shuttle to the main land. It is a great location to dinghy thru the flats, go to bars and restaurants....very cool area. There is no pool but if you have a dingy you can go to all the swim holes up there. Lots of grass. Food and booze is priced way below average ....everyone is very friendly.

You will have to call them to see how you can get in either thru YC affiliation, knowing someone that is a member or they might offer admission based on slip availability. It's definetly worth the effort for a couple nights.

I winter stored there a couple of years... You can walk to restaurants and West Marine. You typically park on the wall near the marina restaurant/bar with grass near by... But I never been there in the summer or been to the restaurant. The Beauregards that own colony marine own that marina, so it's well run. Everyone I have talked to who has been a transient there likes it for a night or two.

They have had a lot of problems up there in the different channels with flooding especially on Harsens island. I am not up on the no wake zones but from what I have heard they have been expanded... Something to look into because Algonac is a long ride if in a no wake zone the whole way

We spent eight years at Algonac Harbour Club and really enjoyed it. Pete Sr. and his crew treated us well. Catch 22 restaurant is across the road and some shopping is within walking distance. We didn't travel back there this season; high water levels had us concerned.

If you get up near the north end of StClair this is a great little restaurant that gets very little press. It a must see.

Mayea is a great spot, it does get crowded on the weekends. It is very close to our home port (BBM).
Algonac is a very nice marina and from what I have heard and seen, it is very well ran. Greg is a great guy and takes very good care of us when we launch in the spring and when we head over in the fall, getting ready to winter store.
North Channel Yacht Club is also part of ABYA (Anchor Bay Yachting Association) and is a nice club with some really nice grounds. As Blueone said, it is in a very nice location. From there you can get to many of the bays, we typically run out to them using our dinghy.
