Can anyone tell me what these metal attachment points are for on my boat? I assume a dinghy davit system of some type?

They're on the boat, by the door and locker, not on the swim platform.

Thanks!

Wild guess, that does look like a Weaver type davit. I bet that the PO made a thing to store/attach the dinghy outboard motor that slid into it.

I just reread the post and realised that there are two davit mounts not one. My original thought was that there was only one davit.

Weaver davit. Had these on my last boat. The mount for my dingy slid in and out. I had a locking pin on mine so I didn't leave the whole thing in my wake. You just need the male portion of the mount and you're in business.

Sorry guys, that is NOT a Weaver bracket. It looks similar, but there are some critical differences.

This is a Weaver mount:

The bracket in question has the following differences:
  • It's overall more rectangular and longer than a Weaver.
  • The opening is considerably wider than the Weaver bracket, and the holding shoulders more narrow.
  • Weaver bracket have 4 bolt holes - 2 on either side. That one has 7 bolt hole.
  • The pin for Weaver mounts has the pin location on the forward side of the mount. This one is in the middle of the plate.
What you have here is a mounting bracket for a St. Croix removable davit system. Or, if there is only one, it's for a St. Croix outboard motor mount.

This is the St. Croix davit. You can see the trapezoidal base under the plate.

These are the dimension and layout for the bracket for the St. Croix 350 model.

This is the outboard storage bracket. It's similar to the davit mount. You can see the bolt pattern and the center pin. I had one on my last boat; good product, easy to use.

NO one else has made a comment but i will, The Genny is a NoNo!
In your opinion...…..Ran one for MANY years before my current boat that has it's own genny. Probably more than 50-60% of over nighters use them in Florida, why?, cheaper on fuel and no problems with weeds eating up your impellers. I always had 4 detectors inside boat with fresh batteries, NEVER a problem

Great job B, saved me a lot of typing and no way I would have been that detailed. I have a 99' 400 as well and noticed they are mounted on the top swim platform. The Weavers davits would be on the bottom one.

Down here we boat 12 months a year, in the summer (which this year lasted about 10 months) we gotta have A/C. My previous SR's didn't have gennys, so guess what? Hundreds of hours without ONE problem, yes I know it's not the safiest practice. LOL, So anyway, you have all these LITTLE overnighters with A/C but NO genny, and you can figure it out from there. I've seen them put EVERYWHERE too, on a flybridge, swim platform, and even suspended with rope under the bow pulpit. And guess what? They're all still using them and are alive and well. LOL

Sorry to hijack your thread ezsteps, I did have those weavers on my 2001 280DA they worked well for us

I have the Weavers on mine and they work great. When I was talking about the bottom I meant the bottom swim platform. The late model 400's have an upper and lower swim platform.

Ok, gotcha. I liked weavers better than the Naughtly's on my 36, they suck, too hi of a swim platform for them, had to down size dinghy motor so we could pull the dinghy onboard
