Sunday our club. in cooperation with another nearby yacht club, hosted 50 Marine Veterans to a breakfast and cruise from Benicia to Vallejo, about an hour long cruise. At the Vallejo Yacht club the vets were assembled while the colors were ceremoniously raised. They then marched in formation thru the parking lot and then were treated to a lunch and a couple of traditional tributes and shared memories. There was a moment of silence during which each Marine was invited to call out the name of a fallen comrade. There were veteran Marines from just about every generation.
I was honored to be one of the boat skippers to provide our boat for the round trip. As I watched these proud men and women fall into formation and stand at attention I could not help but think how fortunate I was to be born in 1962 and come of age in one of the most peaceful times in history and was not compelled to serve. I was an Airforce Brat and have always revered those that did serve. Thanks to all of those that were called and secured our way of life here in the greatest nation on earth.
Happy Veterans Day and May God continue to Bless the United States of America

What a nice tribute to our nation's heroes. Thanks for doing that and thanks also for sharing it.
