Has anyone removed their Glomex and left it off? Mine is only good for leaking water into the arch between caulkings and being a PITA to put the winter cover over. Thinking about removing it and 3D printing some sort of cap to seal the hole.

I removed mine during a project on my hardtop and realized my reception never changed on the tv’s, so I never put it back up there. I put a second GPS antenna in the location where the Glomex used to be.

Good idea, thanks.

I removed two old GPS from my arch a couple of years ago. Did not remove the mounts but capped them with 1" white chair leg end caps from HD/Lowes and they have held up and stayed in place.

I have seen a lot of these antennas on these boats. Currently I do not have television on my boat. We just watch movies on the laptop.
I am considering adding TV for the few on air channels we watch when we go camping.
Opinion - is this disk type antenna worth the $100 bucks?
I can just put some rabbit ears out instead.

With the conversion to digital I get a lot of local stations. I don't watch that much but its nice for sports.

Took ours off when we upgraded TV to Smart TV. Put a stainless cover in its place. We stream from wifi at marina's, our laptop or hot spot from phone. Don't miss it at all.

Thank you. We use the air waves with our camper and occasionally get seven to ten channels, depending where we camp.

If the digital antenna, free, no subscription TV works as well on the water as at a campground, then that will be fine for us. Not big TV watchers anyway. It’s mostly garbage made by unskilled hacks.

It’s hard to answer that question in general terms.
Your location will probably be the biggest factor in your satisfaction with a Glomex antenna.
Some areas seem to get way more stations than others.
That’s probably the case with most OTA antennas.
Before investing in one you’ll probably want to ask around locally to see what others in your specific area think about it.
If they get a decent amount of channels then you probably will too.
In theory, the permanently mounted Glomex higher up on your boat should outperform simple rabbit ears. Look a lot better too. But if you’re in a spot where reception is bad in general or there are very few channels, the Glomex won’t work any miracles.

Thanks.
I will be along the Gulf panhandle, Biloxi to Panama City, mostly.
I will start a new thread and get some feedback.
