410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Added some bling to the bow yesterday. Removed the cheap Nav lights replaced them with stainless led lights. Removes broken windlass switch covers. Replaced with stainless steel (thanks to the member on this site that hooked me up). Removed broken old anchor locker latch. Replaced it with a stainless one from a 2003 340 Sundancer. Installed flexible solar panels negating the use of the generator unless I need blender or hot waterView attachment 74816View attachment 74817View attachment 74818View attachment 74819

What did you think about the brightness of the running lights? I did a test on the stb light with the same replacement and although have not looked from afar it appears to not be as bright. I was looking for stronger led alternative.

Is it possible you were not looking at the 2mile lights. Mine seem just as bright. However, I did not do a side by side.

Mine are 2 mile - they appear to be the same as yours. They seemed to me to brighter than originals. The surface area of the LED lens is much smaller though - maybe that's the difference?

My original nav lights were old and pretty dim. I installed the 2 mile version and they are 10x brighter, and the telltale on top let’s me confirm they are operating from the helm. These lights are a great upgrade.

Interesting. My running lights are already stainless and it doesn’t look like they were ever changed.
Maybe Sea Ray switched to using Stainless at some point, or maybe it was just luck of the draw on what was on the shelf.

The old ones were stainless but the lenses were cloudy and electrical connection to the bulbs were pretty rough leading to sporadic operation. New LED are completely sealed and much much brighter

David, what did you buy? I changed my bulbs to led but they aren't that much brighter and my housings are stainless already. I like the idea of the telltale on top.

I bought a pair, red/green off eBay...thought I paid around $60 for the pair...

The footprint was identical, but the screw hole pattern was different, and getting a drill under the bow rail was a pain...a right angle drill would have helped. The wires are very short on the old ones and a bitch to get to, so don’t cut short!

The only other issue is use a pencil to mark the axis the current lights display at so you can easily line up the new ones.

View attachment 75025 I have my verdict, see what you think. 1 running light led, 1 conventional. Distance of about 600 yards. I believe them to be equal.
Thanks

2 mile lights should be equal. The difference for mine where LEDs are sealed were as the older ones with bulbs/bases just didn’t work so well after a long time salt exposure.

Luckily, mine are still in great shape. Sure would be nice having to little indicators though.

Southco Latches.
The latches that hold the access panels in under the couch (settee) in the salon.
There are two panels and one latch on each panel.
The Southco latches are not the best idea for this purpose. Especially the more forward of the two.
I’ve gone through 3 of them so far.
Has anyone found a better solution for keeping those panels secure?

My starboard overhead porthole in the cabin has the built in retractable shade/screen mechanism. The screen is coming loose from tab used to close it. Can this be repaired or do I need to replace the entire porthole?
