Bit difficult to explain without getting agitated and wanting to do something stupid that I'll regret.
My dock neighbor (allegedly,) snapped my fishing rod in half and tossed it in the water. Then....if that wasn't enough, spit on my boat on the sea ray emblem on side of arch, facing his side.
I've never had more that two conversations with this guy and his wife, he's been at the dock about 6 times this season ( his engines are shot so they just sit and drink on the boat and leave). Was always polite and never gave me any indication that i may have pissed him off and i never had any issues with him in the past.
We were not on boat when this happened. We left that night, returned in the morning about 9. They were already gone. I noticed that my rod was missing then but figured my other neighbor borrowed it, ( happened in past with permission and i had no issues them using it at the dock).

I wanted to wash the boat down prior to heading out and that's when i noticed the nasty spit running down the emblem. Thought is was odd at first and thought maybe he just missed the water but wanted to believe it was bird poop and that's what i told the wife it was. Cleaned boat and went about our day.
1100 that afternoon wife and i head out on boat for swim and lunch and as we are returning back into the slip, wife is on rear deck spotting me in, hollers " looks like a fishing rod under water". We were coming in at low tide and with the right sunlight, sure nuff, fishing rod on the bottom. I figured I'll get it. Sure nuff, it was mine and snapped. So I'm peacing together the spit and broken rod and I'm truly lost. Spoke to harbor master about it and they said they will review the cameras to see if they can tell what happened.
I haven't spoken to my neighbors about it as im waiting for some solid feedback / evidence on what the videos may provide and wondering how some of you would handle this. But my gut is telling me it was them. Wife said season is over no need to get into it over a $20 walmart rod. Marina did say they will buy me a new one.
Frustrated in new New Jersey.

It's tough to say without knowing your situation personally and how big your neighbor is :)
Based on what you said I would explain what happened, spit and pole and ask if he saw anything or if anything happened to his boat. This way you're not accusing him of anything... If he loses it then you know what to do....if he denies it and you get camera proof you know what to do.
Marina life is a lot more fun when you're surrounded with good neighbors...I personally would move

Probably just some stupid ass kids.

I would not accuse anyone until you have the proof ..... until then don't let it eat you alive enjoy yourself like it didn't happen.

Does your marina have good WiFi?

After the little burglary spree on the marina docks here in Chattanooga 2 weeks ago I ordered up a little WiFi camera. Going to mount it on the radar arch pointing to the door to capture anyone who boards the boat. Hope it works out...... being a few hours away from the boat sucks sometimes when you hear of things happening.

Uhg. Thats jersey living for ya. I had same kind of J.O next to me 2 years ago. He would throw his garbage all over the dock and make nasty comments to the girls. Busted ass boat that did not run and him and sea hag wife would just spend all day drinking in boat. How i handled it was first tried to be nice by offering drinks and food when we bbq at dock. When that did not work just gave a couple nasty looks at him and told him i would smack him in mouth and throw his crack head wife in the water if it continued. Next went to marina owner and complained that this is unreal and i spend alot to enjoy my boat. He was booted out of marina by next weekend. I was not only guy complaining

Add cameras to your boat. Life's to short to deal with that BS. We all go to the boat to relax and unwind - not to deal with that.

@Little Ducky - let us know how you make out with that camera. I may be interested in doing something similar!

All good advice, thank you, hate to leave marina as its within walking distance from house. Convenience factor, 100%. Boating season is short enough, and def don't need the Bs. Im heeding all advice and waiting to see what the video may provide, and I'll talk to the 2 other people that may know something. I'll pursuite the law and complain to marina to have them removed for next season, with evidence in hand to have them voted off the island.
So in the mean time, i have the broken rod in it's orginal place for all to see that it magically appeared, lets see what i catch.
P.s love the wifi Camara, looking at Amazon for some now. Thanks again.

You said, 'My dock neighbor (allegedly,) snapped my fishing rod in half and tossed it in the water. Then....if that wasn't enough, spit on my boat on the sea ray emblem". What's that mean, you have a witness? Probably not, because you say your 'gut is telling you'.

I'm tryin' to figure out why you even posted this at all. The dock neighbor is rarely even at his boat(6 times all season), you've only had 'polite' conversation with him. You don't even know who did what.

For all I know you left your fishing pole on the dock and it got broke when your dock neighbor tripped over it, fell, banged up his knee, and a seagull really did shit on your boat. He might be thinking about this right know, and plans to give you a little 'learnin' as soon as the swelling on his knee goes down.

Don't leave marina... just move your slip

These are pics of my camera right now. I use Foscam, cheap okay quality. This is not my exact model they have quite a few. Mine is 1080p, I can pan, zoom, great night vision and I get texts for motion or sound. I control everything from my phone and iPad. It also records on the cloud that I can down load with in 24 hours for free. I put it on the dash so it's obvious in plain sight when leaving the boat and put it in the glove box when I am on the boat. Heat and sun does not effect it.

Very familiar with Foscams - you can set them up on the marina's free wifi?

2 years ago I started commuting back and forth from Indy to Detroit and I saw some crazy traffic crap... So I decided to buy a dash cam... From that day forward for almost 2 years now not a single thing to download from the camera.... Money well spent I say :)

Have you looked at the EULA? I picked up a Samsung similar to that and the app literally wanted access to all the private data on my phone. I took it back. LOL

MM
No never heard of it... Not sure why a camera company needs all your private data?..but I do have a problem with Alexa
