My fresh water tank holds 20 gallons. It seems to run dry very quickly. It is a brand new 2019 searay 270 sdx. Any suggestions would be appreciated....thanks

What does "very quickly" mean?

If there's no leak, then it's pretty simple... use less water! :) 20 gallons is 20 gallons and many sport boats have an even smaller tank. Plus, on a smaller boat, there's really not even the call for much water use like there would be on a cruiser. My 260DA had a 28g tank and we could easily go 3 days on it (that's overnighting, too). Be more judicious with your water use - conserve - it's like camping.

We can do 3 days with overnights on 20 gallons in our 240 DA. But, there is fresh water at several of the docks we go to just in case we need to fill up.

Dang it...I wasn't the first one in with "use less water"! :)

I'm quite the opposite of the two posters above. In the two week-long trips I've had this summer I've averaged 60-70 gallons a day of water consumption. Two adult showers, 804 bathroom visits for three kids and all the other random water needs. If nothing else I know now that I will have to buy a boat with a watermaker if I ever decide to take the admiral around the great loop in retirement. We are not water misers...

You only have a finite supply of water on board, so need to determine how it's being used. Lots of trips to the head? Running the faucet in the sink? Filling the toilet? Heavy use of the pull-out sprayers?

Once you do that you can cut back or advise your guests to conserve. Many folks (and kids) don't appreciate that the water supply on a boat is not like at home, and it will run out. Use good conservation practices like just enough water to flush, turn the faucets off right away, and quickly use the pull out sprayer.

If it's yellow, let it mellow...
Bah. Just jump in the water most the time. Only the wife uses the head and mostly only after dark. Can't get her to use the swimdeck at night like me. :p

I wonder if you could somehow adapt this to the back of your boat? It's called a "Bumper Dumper"

20 gallons is a lot of water for a day boat... If you can check to see if you are emptying the tank all the way.. That might explain it... Or let us know how you go thru that much water... What you are using it for...etc.

The OP has another thread requesting instructions on the proper use of the Vacuflush system on his boat. I suspect therein lies a good part of his water supply problem.

I have the same boat, listen for the water pump to cycle with all faucets off, and power on, you may have a line leak causing more water usage then normal
Good luck

That sounds like a great idea....I will when I get back on the boat again

You could double your water by purchasing a couple of 5 gallons containers. Find a place to sit one or two out of the way. Then you refill...
