The Bill Nash models are great in every way. The Lollar pickups have so much better output and beef. The relic jobs are amazing. My favorite guitars at present.

I think they only made about 80...They are hand numbered, and I think mine is in the 60's. They were just starting production when Peavy bought them. It's a pretty cool guitar and less weight IMO than some other heavier electrics. I can play it w/o a strap comfortably....Still, I think it was an interesting attempt at something. Not sure why Peavy didn't pursue it.

Very nice. My 1st one was a $49 Epiphone bought at K-Mart back in the seventies. I carried that thing all over the world during my Navy adventures. My toys have gotten significantly more expensive over the years, but as they say, you never forget your first.

My brother does some custom work on older guitars. Here are some pics. Some nice stuff cosmetically but makes sure they play right too. I love guitar porn but can’t play. The last one (blue maple) is a guitar I built from a kit. Upgraded a few components, but it looks prettier than it plays.

Woody, that's a hell uv a collection for someone that does not play. You gotta play at least a little bit??
I wish. I took a few lessons but mostly tried teaching myself. Never got past learnin' some scales and a couple cords. Putting in the practice time just always seemed a chore, it don't work without that.

Somehow I accumulated some beautiful guitars in a short period of time. I used to have a few more in fact. To me they are kind of like guns, I enjoy just looking at them. Some people don't get that, seeing your posts I'll bet you do.

I kept them for the grandkids but none of them have musical interests except for my grandson but wouldn't you know.....no interest in strings at all, he's a trombone player.

Gonna get some video game hate on this one. But, short of spending big bucks on private lessons, I have tried several ways to get excited about learning guitar. I use Tux guitar for tabs, bought several tab books, chord books and such. I have watched endless you tube issues. What has gotten me to be most interested is a game called Rocksmith on Xbox. It is kinda like guitar hero. But, you have to use a real guitar or bass to play the game. I like the harder rock. I have downloaded Killswitch Engage, Five Finger Death Punch, Motley Crue, Audioslave, etc. But, there are several preloaded songs to learn with. If you want to learn, but don't learn in the contemporary ways, maybe this will help you, too.

I've been playing guitar for 40 plus years. Played on the road in early 80's with a band but got tired of being broke LOL.

We used to joke about going out on tour with 2 grand, and coming back with 1. I turned this into a hobby and never looked back. I still go out and sit in here and there when I can.

I got GAS real bad in the 90's hanging out with a guy who put on the Orlando Guitar Shows. Been through about 150 or so. Earliest one was a 53 Les Paul that Stewart MacDonald had taken the gold top off back when he was just getting started as a luthier, revealing a beautiful flame top. It was finished natural blonde. Somebody in Australia has that one. You are probably familiar with StewMac if you build. I also had a dark wine 1970 335. Maybe that's it. That went to a collector in Nashville in 2011. Now I'm down to a gallery of wall hangers, a few under the beds here and there, and 2 that won't go anywhere. My #1 player is a 57 Strat, and my #1 hide in the closet is a first production year PRS cherry moons.
I'll throw some pics up later.

My sons are both players and my younger son built guitars and his pride and joy is a 8 string progressive fret through neck hard body. Pictures not the best but it's off you tube under Nick Tibbitts a few years back . His work has moved him out of state so he can't use my wood shop to build guitars anymore he does have some of his creations floating around and I still have one his 8 string body's hanging in my shop.

I guess I need to take a photo of mine. Here's my list. I "was" a punk/metal head. I started annoying my Dad in 1983 trying to learn how to play Judas Priest and Scorpions, over and over and over and over and over.............

1987 Charvel Model 2 - Blue Metallic with a single humbucker - 1st new guitar I purchased (not my Dad) . It had a volume knob only (excellent tone for not having tone knob - I believe it's a Seymore-Duncan inside the "Jackson" plate). I cut my teeth on that guitar even though I had a Peavy & a Yamaha before that.

1983 American Strat - Gloss Black - I modded it. Installed flat black pick guard, black knobs and hardware except the tremolo. Installed a Gibson 496R hot pickup at the bridge location (Metal )

2001 Gibson Les Paul Gothic - Replaced the 496R (Installed in the Strat - to hot IMO for the LP) and added a Gibson PAF.

2005 Ovation - Cheap one with a pickup & something to strum!

Ever since my daughter was born I pretty much stopped playing. At one point I built a studio in my basement with a nice Pearl Session Series set, a Jackson Bass, Tascam Mixing board, Marshall 100w (Mosfet) Head, 4x12 cabinet, Multiple Boss effects and wha-wham Hatrke Bass amp, multiple Shure mics and Pro Tools (2002 version). All of that stuff is gone except for the four guitars and I replaced the Marshal with a 100w Peavy with built in effects. It doesn't sound as clean as the Marshall IMO.

All of that space is now our workout room. I pick it up from time-to-time, realize how dated and awful I sound and put it away. I keep them tuned and check them from time to time. Been considering picking it up again once my daughter goes to college.

I like this thread. Beautiful guitars Captains.

I agree Woody. Although I played, I can't get rid of them. They feel good just to hold sometimes. And yes I completely agree, they are kind of like guns in that sense. I've been collecting more of those as of late. :D

Always amazed at the skills of some of the people here......

I know there isn't much magic in a couple of black guitars, but here's a pic. This thread inspired me to noodle around with them for a couple of hours this afternoon so I snapped a photo. My Model 2 is in two pieces right now so I didn't take a photo.

PART 1

Got all my guitars and keyboards from the old days. While I favor Telecasters, my prized possessions are a '62 SG Special ala Pete Townsend, an early B.C.Roch Mockingbird signed by Bernie Rico himself and a solid walnut Tele that I built while studying for the bar exam. My ES335 was put together by a guy who dumpster-dived at the Gibson factory for the rejects which were bandsawed to parts put back together. I'm currently, and slowly in my 'spare' time, building a solid rosewood Telecaster ala George Harrison rooftop concert.
