I have a 280 dancer and just started having an issue with the AC its been shutting down and saying low AC. I thought it was low on freon but its blowing cold as can be when it works. I also noticed it seems to be doing this only during the day when at marina never tried with generator. So now I am stumped. any help greatly appreciated

Possibly freezing up? Not trying to be a wise-guy. Maybe try raising the temp a few degrees

Must be going around. I also had that happen yesterday. I too believe it’s low on power. Think of it. The country is in a massive heatwave right now and every person at the marina with AC has it on-full blast. This is loading down the shore power at the marinas. When I shut down everything but the AC it seemed to help and not kick off.

As stated above, low AC is a voltage issue and it is going under the amount n Dee to power the unit. Low Pressure is due to the coils being dirty. Hi pressure is usually do to lack of cooling water flow. I would get a current meter on it and check voltage to the unit.

I had the exact problem with my unit showing 'lo ac" this weekend. Although it is correct to say that it's probably a low voltage issue, it could also be an issue with a restricted flow of water. I cleaned out the filter which is just in from of the pump (which had a bunch of debris in it), and also the sea cock by flushing it backwards with a hose (got really wet tho). It's been two days and the AC is running great. Hope this helps.

Randall,
Low water flow would not cause a LO AC alert. Restricted flow would cause the unit to go off on hi pressure.

I totally agree with what you are saying. I'm simply saying that I cleaned it out and have had no issue since. Perhaps my actions are not related to the unit working again, but that was the result!

Anytime we get under 200 volts from shore power the unit will shut itself down to avoid a brownout (burnup) situation... I have only experienced it at a couple of marinas in Canada because they are running 208-volt transformers and once you put a load on it you under 200 volts.

Mine will drop to 100 before it kicks off. I wonder if that is slowly ruining the unit?

Update on my 'LO AC' issue. Robski is right, cleaning the strainers isn't the solution to this particular problem (although it's still a good idea to do it). After running fine for a few days, I got the error message again. I checked everything with a volt meter i.e. the unit itself, the boat outlets, the power source. Everything was fine. Then I popped the cover off the wall unit, unscrewed it, detached the power source, cleaned the contacts on the board and the wire and put it back together. I also reset the unit to factory settings (this process is in your manual). It has been almost a week and it has been running great. Hope this helps.
