Official 380 Thread

I am selling my 2001 380 DA. Used to be on Lake Erie... moved to FL in 2/2018 so mostly freshwater. 800 ish hours I think?

I have a 2000 380da. Anyone know what holding tank vent filter it takes? Forgot to look at it over the weekend. Thanks!

To follow up on the Westerbeke zinc replacement from the previous page. I got it done today.

What I did was remove the two 10mm screws that hold the bands on the HX and used a demo bar that looks like an overgrown screwdriver with a bend in the end of it. Anyway, I was able to leverage the HX up and out enough to get the new zinc in. You basically have to lay over the exhaust wet tubes so they are soft. Otherwise, my ribs would be sore!

If the generator ever comes out, it is going to be mounted when it goes back in up on 2 inch blocks to give some clearance.

Cheers!

I have a question to throw out to the group. We are adding thrusters to the Sea Ray and will be pulling the boat for some of the work.

What other things can/should I do while it is on the hard?

I am getting the shaft and plate zincs ordered.

I am going to add zincs to the Bennett trim tabs.

I want to do the bottom paint...any recommendations? Thinking about an ablative as we are in brackish water for moorage and salt when out and about. Any cleaning/prep recommendations? I will have it pressure washed...I do not think I can do it myself per the yard rules. Also, no power sanding.

Any ideas of how to best use the time on the hard while the guy is doing the thruster install would be appreciated!

Cheers!

7.3kw Kohler Generator. I've always had the impeller replaced once a year. So the other day it was running and it just shut down. I cranked it back up and noticed that it wasn't discharging water.. I checked the strainer and shut off valve. I'm guessing the impeller took a dump or the spline coupling broke. Looking in there, I'm gonna have to take off a bunch of exhaust hoses and possibly more to get back there. Has anyone else performed this job in a 2003 380? That generator is buried in there.

I recently purchased a 2000 Sea Ray 380 Sundancer and have been experiencing some issues with one of the air conditioners . After some investigating it appears that the water pump relay isn't working for one of the ac units . It took me a while to find where the relay is located and it appears that the previous owner had opened the box and has made a mess and may have hot wired the pump so only one of the ac units will trigger the pump . I just wanted to check if anyone has accessed the relay box in the engine room and if there should be 2 triggers located on some type of circuit board ?
There is just some wires spliced together on my boat and it appears that one of the black wires is missing ? If anyone has dealt with this issue and can provide any insight it would be greatly appreciated .

I have the Westerbeke option in my 99, and it just stopped pumping also .... well, it started trickling anyways. Impeller was fine, but I replaced it anyways. In my case, I believe it's the Heat Exchanger itself - looks pretty clogged. I am going to have to remove the cylinder and have it serviced, acid bath or whatever they do. Not sure how the Kohler is configured, but you should check the exchanger.

Mine is located behind the salon couch back. There are 2 trigger relays. I'll see if I can upload some pics. I replaced both of my trigger relays.

Hi Eric ,
This is awesome ! I'm not sure what it is that I'm looking at in the engine room ?

Was it difficult to remove the salon couch ?

Thanks

Sudsy !

Thanks ! I'm heading to the boat right after work to investigate . I spent 2 hours last Saturday looking for it and had opened everything and didn't realize the it might be located behind the couch ! Joys of a new boat ! It always takes times to get it figured out .

Sudsy, If you lift the seatback up it may come up. I use the area behind for storage of little-used parts.

on my 2000 380, i remove the bottom of the seat, then, down low, there is maybe 5 screws that hold the seat back on. once those are removed, the seat back raises up
