Economy added 263,000 jobs in April, unemployment falls to 3.6%, new 50-year low

I struggle to fully understand people that are so upset with the current administration. I mean I get the hair, the arrogance, etc. But...jeez..we are cranking! Both of my kids under 30 yrs old have 100K a year jobs...manufacturing is returning...stocks are up.....new construction everywhere. I mean damn it, stop and smell the roses people. Be careful what you ask for.

10/4... Automotive is struggling a bit as out tastes have changed once more and cars are out and SUV’s and trucks are in. Mining industry is finally crawling out of the terrible hole it was in from the previous 8 years. It is sad that the country is going to remain divided for my lifetime. After 9-11 we came together for a short period until the media could not stand it any longer and went back on the attack.

Because they insist on following their dream of building cars and trucks for utopia, not what the consumer wants to drive.

I fully agree people that say they can not find jobs don’t want to find jobs, or they want a way more money than they are worth.

My personal company is in the boating industry but my career is in the automotive industry. One of the trends I am seeing is the auto manufacturers are heading back down the road they just got bailed out of. But in both worlds I find that the kids getting into the work force don’t want to work more than 30 hours a week and they want to start at the of top of the food chain.

Are the people beholden to the government? Or is the government a servant of the people?

Lot of ways to say that same point. My words are imprecise, not that great.

Some believe focus everything on a central government, then the government takes care of everything and all people. Solves all problems.

Some believe the government is in place to address specific issues ( for example national defense, rule of law, etc). At the end of the day government works for the people, not manages the people.

It's Trump's fault. Taxes down. Regulations down. Prosperity up. Donald bragging up.

224,000 jobs added in June, unemployment remains near 50yr low. Accentuate the positive it used to be, this ought to be big news, unfortunately it is not. No time for high fives and ass pats....only claims of racism and more investigations.

The negative comments will never stop with the Trumpster in the White House. His critics care only about their declining power over us.

It is hard to come to the table with something to offer in this economy... All the Dems have is to offer free stuff, slander and blame

Meanwhile we are accumulating debt at a near record pace and have never owed more. Did you guys miss Mnuchin’s press briefing this week? The treasury is sounding the alarm. Cheap money is creating a borrowing binge that will likely end in tears. 2008 anyone? This is a house of cards. The Trump tax plan is not working and is only setting up decades of pain for future generations. US credit rating continues to decline around the globe, and the dollar is significantly overvalued in current markets. All that is going to come crashing down eventually.

But we added some jobs last month (many of which are low paying, low skilled jobs with no benefits) so times must be good?

Come on guys. This is not fiscal conservatism. This is is not conservatism at all.

I 100% agree... not one person from either side is talking about the debt. The Dems with free everything will only exponentially increase it bringing the end sooner. Something needs to be done.

This country doesn't have an income problem, we have a spending problem.

Here's a civics lesson: US Constitution, Article I, Section 7, Clause 1 "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills."

So if we want to lay blame for our spending problems, why do we keep electing the same people who created this mess to Washington? It's our congress who has the spending problem, which equates to a borrowing problem, and low interest rates obscure the real problem. If cheap money goes away, inflation will take hold and run rampant, the DC politicians know this.

US Constitution, Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time."

Again, why do we keep electing the same people who created this mess back to office every two years or 6 years? And it's not just democrats, the republican establishment owns their fair share of this.

You got anything to say that isn't negative?

That's funny. Govt. revenue is up significantly - due to growth from the tax cuts. Spending is up significantly more.

Yeah. And humanity will be instinct in 12 years!

The U.S. dollars remains the global benchmark.

Trump must have a “magic wand” because manufacturing is back.

Interest rates are low. Inflation is almost absent. CPI is low. Employment at 97%.

But...but..”the debt!...”

Tell the Chicoms to go pound sand. We’re not paying.

@M Prod , respectfully, Trump shut down the government to get a better budget. But, the way I see it, the rank and file Dems and Repubs just want to spend....I think if he had control he would reign it in. Do you think he likes spending? He's donated his paycheck...I think he's learned without Congress, he has very limited powers...

I don't know what the future holds, but I agree that it's likely headed for a downturn...It's hard to fault the gov't when I see greed and entitlements at every corner...I know a lot of people trying to make a fast buck with OPM....Personally, I don't mind downturns...They weed out the bad....

BTW - Your profile says "BC" but you say "we".... Do you have a dog in this fight?

On another note, the USD is being attacked from all sides...Clearly BRIC, crypto, QE, ....It's not a pretty picture, but few people look outside there home when it comes to problems.

Where would you put your money if not USD? EUR, RUB, HUF?
