..another project to enjoy~

Welcome. All kinds of tinkerers up in here, so you came to the right place.

... I'm finding the twin inboards on the 300 WE to be a little overwhelming at docks. I did install a rudder indicator which has helped a lot. Practice, practice.

As I learned from others, and now do myself - I dont use the rudders inside the marina much at all. Keep the rudder straight, engines at idle, and use each prop together/separately to get the boat to go where you want it. Its common to shift in and out of gear to control your speed, and put one in FWD and the other in REV to twist the boat as needed. Plenty of youtube instructional videos out there to view. If conditions dictate (winds, currents) use throttles to make more aggressive maneuvers.

^^this! Think of it as your shift levers being the bars of a bicycle handle. I also (and I highly recommend), hired a local captain for a day. They can show you all the tricks to keep you out of trouble and will help you build your confidence.

I'm at Venetian in Sandusky. Buy a six pack and let's play around the dock. I owned one of those years ago and they handle very well. Great boat! Congrats.

Sounds good, Jeff. I spent quite a bit of time watching videos how to maneuver a twinscrew. My real problem is when my port engine stalls out at idle in gear...ugh....then it's a nightmare. Sometimes I don't realize it until its to late. Watching the dock and at the same time the instruments at that pivotal moment. I do not have a low oil pressure buzzer or light. I did acquire a warning light for low oil pressure, but haven't installed it yet. Yes, I do need an experienced captain to show me the tricks. The rudder indicator I purchased was for walking the boat sideways. I thought a quick look at the gauge instead of spinning the wheel was convenient. I would like to be at Venetian Friday morning, but not sure yet.

I am hoping to find someone that can post pics of the aft seating support frame on my 300. I have the three cushions which are in great shape, but the frame is missing. I'd like to build a frame to OEM specs, so dimensions would be great. Thanks.

Sorry buddy I have nothing myself, but will put it our there

I have learned it is no fun docking an inboard twinscrew with only one engine running...sigh~ It's possible, but tough. Slow is way to fast. Now the engine that I relied on to get me home is making noise. Always something.
