I have a 2005 Sundancer 260. The AC runs fine on generator, but it kicks breaker on when using shore power. The breaker is kicked when the compressor turns on. I just changed out the capacitor, but not luck. I've tried a new cable, and using other plug-ins and it blows all of those fuses as well. Works perfect on generator power though. I can send a video of problem if that will help anyone help me.

Run the AC on the generator and check to see how many volts the ground system is seeing when the compressor kicks in. You can use a volt meter at one of your boat electrical outlets.

Thank you, is this something I can do, what am I looking for, what could the problem be?

I bet when the compressor kicks in the voltage is going to ground.

From blade to blade on the plug while the generator is running your volt meter should read 110-120v. The reading from neutral to ground should read zero..... I bet in your case you are seeing some voltage.

I have same issue but mine trips breaker after compressor is on for about 10-15 seconds. Works fine off generator. Ill let you know what I find

Breaker may be bad. We just had to change ours out on our Power Pedestal. They do wear out.

I'm curious whether or not you're using a "Y cable" to connect to shore power? I guess I'm assuming a 260 does have two 30A connections for shore power?

I was able to pop breakers with my 340 while using a Y cable to connect both 30A sides to a single when the air and hot water heater were on at the same time. Too much draw, everything was working correctly. Just a thought...

When you say blowing a fuse, do you mean a breaker in the boat or a breaker at the dock pedestal?

Thank you, my shore power breaks as soon as compressor kicks on

I thought about getting a y, but it should work on just the 30amp

Does it trip the pedestal breaker when only the AC breaker in the boat is turned on and all the other 110 breakers are turned off except for your shore power and AC?

One possibility is your marina's power system. Are you in a modern marina or one with an old system. If it trips in a modern facility, the odds that it is a boat problem go up. If not, probably a marina issue.
