Why Fusion

Interesting. I have a 755 in the same stock location in the cabin, and on my 400 I can barely hold a bluetooth signal at the helm. I ended up installing a wifi network exclusively for the Fusion, just so I could hold a signal throughout the boat.

Can you give some more info on your wifi network? We stream Pandora from our phones via BT and often lose connection while hanging out on the dock. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Fusionlink app if the phone must stay next to the stereo.

Those who've installed a Fusion, particularly the RA70's, I noticed on the harness the red wire attaches to the switched power, but why isn't there an additional constant power wire (yellow)?
Most head units I've installed before have a yellow lead for constant, to keep the program memory - is there a battery in the unit that keeps that info?

This thread is making me feel a bit lucky. I may be the only Fusion owner that has experienced significantly improved bluetooth reception!

Really simple. I took an old wifi router that I had at home, gave it a name using my laptop, and connected it to the Fusion via an ethernet cable. It only serves as a network for the Fusion, not a bridge to the internet. Since I reused a home router it has to run on AC. The draw is really low so that wasnt a problem on my boat. Any device that is connected to that network wont also be connected to the internet at the same time. The wifi signal totally overcame the BT limitations I had. I can control the stereo from 100 feet away.

In your situation streaming Pandora you may have a problem because you need an internet connection to do that. I didn't try to solve that problem because I mostly listen to SiriusXM, but there might be a way to bridge your cellular internet signal with the Fusion wifi.

My 750 has horrible BT reception. I have an WiFi network, but that only helps with the control of the Fusion. A 750 can't stream content over WiFi... I thought that was the case with all of their units....?

I believe the RA-70 stores all of its presets in non-volatile ram, thus not requiring backup power.

I have an msra70N now and the BT signal is awesome. I also have it networked via nmea 2000 to a Garmin 840xs. In the menus on the Garmin, I can see every setting I could think of. Now that I got everything working I bought an Apollo 770. Will post info on it asap. A few friends all bought them so we can stream the same music wirelessly while rafted up. Can't wait to get it installed.

Pretty much on this site if you don't install Fusion and JL speaker stuff, then there is something wrong with you. That's why I installed Alpine BT unit with their RF remote and Polk speakers.

Funny. This is me. Just installed the RA70N. And just (5 minutes ago) ordered a JL subwoofer and 4 JL MX 6.5’s for the cockpit and bridge. My stock Clarion sub is blown. The outdoor stock Clarion 6.5 speaker sound tinny. Hoping not to have to replace the Clarion amp yet.

Ordered a apollo RA-770 today. Can't wait to try it out. Anyone have experience with this model? Wonder how the EQ is. I hope it has an EQ so I can fool around with sound. Also thinking of getting the MS-NRX300 remote control for the helm. wondering Does this Remote have BT built into it also? To increase the signal?

I have the Apollo and it has its own WiFi network so you can stream via airplay (iOS) and Bluetooth.
Fusion now has settings for individual speakers as far as location/type/ environment etc so you can fine tune each zone. So far I’m impressed with the sound
Ps you’ll need to download the fusionlink app to make most of the adjustments

Nice thats good to hear!

On the Fusion audio, the admiral bought me the 650 as a gift in 2018. She bought it because I just couldn't justify the money even though I REEEEAAAALLLLYY wanted it. I mounted it on the bridge of our 43 Bertram Sportfish (may she always have calm seas and tight lines... amen) which sadly was lost in Hurricane Michael. However I was able to retrieve the unit from the bridge. I thought it was toast. I mean come, on to survive a CAT 5 storm and still work? TADA!!!! yep sure does and is now comfortably located in our salon on our new 04 410 EC. At this point that's all I need to know about their quality.

Has anybody tried to plug in a usb powered hard drive to the 770 if I can play music from it?

Chris, on the usb hard drive, that would be awesome, I'll reach out to my fusion guru we bought the 770's from and see and maybe try it this weekend when I install mine. The 300 series remote is wired only. The arx70 $50 remotes use ANT versus Bluetooth just like a Garmin watch.

Installed the 770 this weekend had a hard time learning how to navigate but starting to get it. I really wish they would have a home button so you don't have to always go back back back or try to bush the little tiny "X" soft key or < etc. could easily make the nob push for home or power button instead of mute or something. and hate when you adjust volume you have to wait few sec to get back to station screen or what every your playing or again try to hit that tiny "X" soft key. sound quality was good but if i'm really in party mode have to have volume 100% would be nice to have the same level mabey at 80% with some room left for extra umph. good that speaker doesn't distort but thats my business lol. I have no amp on the 2 speakers in the v berth which are the only ones im using at the moment. The cockpit speakers aren't active yet they are on an amp. I want to replace the amp or check connections only getting sound from one side but the old radio was like that too so just leaving the amp off for now. anyone now were its located so i can replace or at least check connections? 2003 300 sundancer.

We had the Fusion 770 installed last week and added some items to improve the cockpit sound. Our bridge was good, cockpit sucked.
Now running (combined between cockpit and bridge), 8 JL Mx650's, 2 10" JL Subs and 2 JL Amps. Sounds good and is not distorting at higher volume levels. There are obviously much louder and clearer systems out there, but this is good for us.

That is strange. My fusion Av755 is in the salon nearest the front birth on my 400 and I can easily control it via BT from a float 50' behind my boat in the water. What sold me on the Fusion was the BT range. I had a Clarion M502 and the BT would not work outside the salon. I tried a fusion Av755 at west marine and connected my phone, walked diagonally across the store at least 100' away and put my phone inside a magma grill on a shelf. When I went back to the fusion is was still playing music from my phone.

Another thing to consider. I venture to say that most of us who want XM on the boat, already have it in our cars or home. If your boat stereo has Bluetooth, and you have a phone, there is no need for an XM receiver. You can buy the xm streaming add-on for less than $10 / month, and just stream from your phone using the XM app, when you are on the boat

I put a Fusion in my 340 and could use the Bluetooth several slips away. I loved it.

The Apollo is Sirius XM ready so just adding it to your account is easy. I pay $5/month and will call today to add it .
