Official 290 Sundancer Thread

That's an interesting project, Pyro, I am interested to see how it turns out!

Anyone know what the recessed pocket is at the rear seat under the cushion? It looks like it holds a table or something similar. My table stores underneath the engine hatch. I decided to install a custom sub enclosure there and have to shave off 1/2" of the recessed fiberglass to fit. There is a small port I'm hoping sound escapes from, as well as goes through the seat. Very difficult project so far, and not even sure how it will sound. I'll post more when I'm done.

On a side note, I finally found the secret compartment up at the bow!

Greetings, You are correct, the recessed pocket holds a tri- fold teak table, Our 290 also has two large clips that hold the aluminum 2 1/2 table support on the floor of that same compartment. Good luck with the sub

2 questions - does anyone know the approximate square footage of the ‘99 cockpit area? Considering an SeaDeck install and attempting to get an estimate on cost.

Second question - anyone towing a dinghy? Any tips?

Thanks

Has anyone replace the factory (Not) underwater lights mounted under the swim platform that shine into the water? they look like a round 5" headlight from an older car. I would like to replace with LED because they use less power and are not so hot.
Thank you

Anyone know how to get hold of drawings for emblems, or vector based graphics of the SeaRay emblem. Also interested in the Sundancer emblem and "290" as vbg. I intend to 3D-print new (more) emblems.

Hey Mosquito. Getting ready to order a swim platform like yours. Silly question. Or two. Do the outdrives clear the support struts if they are all the way up and swing them side to side?
Also wondering if you installed it yourself? I plan to.
Thx

Hey Steve,
I was just quoted $1467 for the two color Sea Dek in my '07 290. Yours should be similar. They already have custom patterns.

That's a pretty reasonable quote compared to what I've seen. Are you doing the cockpit and swim platform? Who did you work with at Sea Dek?

That quote was before I decided on the swim platform, so just the cockpit. I'll have to get a template kit and send it in for the platform. I'm guessing another $500 or so for that.
As far as the SeaDek. I just called customer service and told them what I wanted and they sent a very detailed email with all of the info. The email came from generic CSR #1009 :)

Did you buy? I’m very interested in learning how difficult/easy it is to install.

Within a couple of weeks. Need to sell a boat first. There are some good instructions and videos on their website. I’ll post my findings after I get it installed.

They do have nice videos. What do people do with the embedded carpet snaps?

I was planning on removing mine and filling the holes

Good morning, Not looking for a single seat but very interested in how you changed to a double seat? We would like to do the same thing. Please let us know how you did it, could you send a picture?

Thank you so much,
Pat
I ended up using a Great Lakes skipper seat. (Suggested by the Sea Ray guy at the factory) I will be in the water in a week or two and when it comes out of storage I'll be glad to email you a couple of pic's. I think the seat was $700, and I paid a former Sea Ray manager to install it($500). It is pretty much the same color as the beige trim on the other seats and matches perfectly.

I put my sub in the aft double seat. Easy to fit and I really didn't lose any storage.

Thank you, Look forward to seeing a picture. Boat went in on Friday and we installed SeaDek yesterday.

Anyone replace the cabin and/or aft berth TVs? I have the originals and want something that can handle a digital signal.

This Samsung 32” is the largest I could fit to the space.
