340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Anyone looking for a set of stock props? May have a deal lined up on some 4 blades.. and curious if I could recoup anything from stock 18X22 nibral 3 blades?

just a friendly suggestion....you may want to hold on to the stock props until you see how the 4 blade props work on your boat....i have read mixed reviews of 4 blade props on our boats....also remember that the 1998-2003.5 model 340 will perform differently than later models with the same props due to the overall weight difference and the dead rise difference in the two models....

good luck with the project....

yea I am aware the changes, but the boats that came with the new 4 blades is heavier, and same motors, and others have made the swap and picked up 2-3mph cruise speed... which is what I want.. and I am asking for interest, not shipping them off till I run the boat with the 4 blades to be sure.

I had ACME 4 blade props on mine, and I can't find the paperwork with diameter & pitch but can tell you once I put those on I had a lot more grip around the dock, the launch was great, and just like you're looking for I picked up a few MPH at cruise cruise speed, and if I remember correctly lost a few at WOT.

I'm sorry, but I looked before replying and just don't have those records. I'd suggest calling ACME Marine at 888.661.ACME they know these 340's extremely well as Sea Ray built a ton of them. I forget which number you hit for technical support, but they have 2 guys available to help.

Any way to find out what you had?
I have a 2000 340 Dancer and just had my 4 blade props turned in the fall.
I increased the pitch. I helped my cruise speed AND my top end RPM actually improved.
I have the 7.4L MPI mercs. I'll share what i did when i get my paperwork looked at.

can the engines still reach the recommended RPM range at WOT?

Yes. I was very concerned. I was told if I increased pitch I would not be able to get the RPM's high enough. Against everyone's advice I wanted to see how my heavy A$$ boat would plane and ride if I did it. It was a great move that I should have done sooner. It planes more level than before and has a tad more speed and the RPM's still hit 4500-4600 I believe. I have to go back and look at my stuff.

sounds good....you do not want to 'lug' the engines....only bad things happen if/when you do....

and your 'heavy a$$ boat' is around 1,000 lbs less than the newer model 340 and has less hull deadrise, both of which help with planing a little easier....

I had a hard time keeping the bow down with tabs til I did this also.
I had a stainless steel tab made that gave larger surface area. I also have engine monitors and can watch the efficiency increase as I mess with the tabs. A real cool investment.

looks good...do you happen to have the design for the new tabs?....i have been playing with this idea as well but we seldom go on plane for more than a few mins and that is just when i want to check out the health of the engines with a quick WOT run.....the way we use our boat i am not sure the time and money to make and install new tabs is a cost effective project.....99% of the time we are running around 8-9 mph on 'cocktail cruises'.....

I am about to pull the boat for bottom paint. Planning 23x14 tabs with 2 inch down fins.... then possibly the 4 blade 21-22s to help the speed. betwee both shouls get a solid 3-4mph cruse speed and flatter ride...

I have my Lowrance hooked to the SMmartcraft 8.1s and played a lot to see MPG live... and .7 is normal .8 if light on gas... I run on plane most days... so would love to see the front down and some better mpg

Any of you that have replaced your main fridge?

New one is here, about to do the swap, the new one has a drain hose for it and trying to plan where to runnthat or block off.

i think i need to replace the water pressure regulator for the shore water hook up on my boat....my fresh water pump failed so i hooked up to shore water this past WE until i installed a new pump....at first water flowed from the faucets and toilet as expected but latter just a small trickle of water would flow...the hose still had plenty of pressure so it seems like the regulator must be bad....

does anyone have a link for a replacement regulator for our boats?.....

thanks...

Mine is bad as well. Will replace if someone has link and not to pricy but never really use it.

yeah, i don't use mine much either but i like for everything on my boat to work as intended....it will come in handy if it is needed again in the future....i replaced the fresh water pump....not too bad of a job....

i did a little research on the water pressure regulator...the original Jabsco part number is 44410-1000.....this part is no longer available....the Jabsco replacement is part 44412-1045.....there are reviews that suggest the new part is a little larger in diameter than the original so the mounting hole may need to be enlarged...but the hook-up to the water lines on the boat had no issues....i ordered one so i'll report back once i have a chance to install it....

cost is around $40.....

Skip the Jabasco (Xylem) and go for the Shurflo. They are a much better unit. The Jabasco connector was just pressure fitted in and failed within 6-months. The Shurflo is a slightly larger hole but basically the same size. If I can find my pictures of the Jabasco failure I will post them.

Finally addressed a factory annoyance..

You can’t turn on the light in the head with out turning on all the other lights around the cabin..... so if one needs to use the bathroom at night lights come on everywhere or your in the dark...

So randomly found the access panel behind the mirror in the head...this gave me an idea.. and I capitalized.

Ran a single wire from the head light, over top of head and down the wall behind the power panel, and into the switch panel on left side of counter.

The head light is now powered off the fan switch power supply side. Both fan switches work as normal. And the head light works alone by switch inside head..

So the breaker for the fan... poop/gally if off the head light is not powered/ can’t be left on. But in general when I first get to the boat I turn on the fan switch and some others.. but no more bathroom light = wake everyone
