Anyone have suggestions on a modified epoxy to use on the hull of a 2002 Sea Ray 280?
Need's stripping too, going to try Aqua Strip... anyone used it before?

I used Petit Vivid on my 280DA. You can put it over most bottom paints without completely stripping. Picked up 5 mph over the prior ablative paint.

Thanks, hulls does need stripping quite a bit... so going with an epoxy for a better seal and longer lasting.

An epoxy barrier coat is NOT an anti-fouling paint. You would still need to apply anti-fouling paint, if that's the functionality you're after. And, there's really no need to put an epoxy barrier coat on your hull.

Vivid is a modified epoxy that has anti-fouling properties. It goes on like a hard paint but will keep growth off in a fresh water or brackish environment. It does not do well in a warm salt water environment. It was perfect for my lake boat with occasional trips to the ocean. It can be applied over any kind of bottom paint but you still need to do proper preparation.

I have a seawater cooled 280 (with twin 5.0) that is used in fresh water. For those with seawater cooled engines that are used in saltwater is there an easy way to flush the engines and the B !!!s? Asking because we're thinking of moving the boat to Fl.

Assume you're asking in regards to leaving it in the water?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is have a block off plate installed and have seacocks/strainers installed with a garden hose connection. That would be the best long term solution to keeping things healthy. Search here, or google, for 'bravoitis' and you'll see why I'm recommending this.

I was planning on rack storage - which we do now (however it's in fresh water now)

Then just flush it the way any drive (Alpha or Bravo) would be flushed when not in the water. A flush attachment ('ears') to the drive intake and a hose. Simple. $5.

Hello...
I have 2008 280 SD and looking to replace all my bulbs with led. Has anyone done this?
Thanks

There’s a write up that someone did on this very thread that I used. I dont recall what page it’s on but if you search the thread you should be able to find it.

So, i Received My Starboard Vent Cover And Its A Replica. Looks well Made Except I Need To Paint It Now. i Have The Name Of The Paint Color Needed But I Hear There Are Like Six Variations Of Sea Rays "arctic White". Cant Get To My Boat Until May To color Match to The Portside Cover Either. Will Have To Wait I Guess. Still Happy I Was Able To Score One Of These For Only $140 Though.
A little late, but where did you find the covers? Mine are missing of my 2002 280.

Ebay. You have to search the sellers name here or on the Facebook 280 group page. Mbarcena i think was his name.

I replaced the nav lights and cockpit lights with LED's haven't done interior. Bought bulbs from Marinebeam.com
Thanks a lot. I've been planning to replace those too. We just bought the boat, anxious to tackle these projects, especially since the starboard nav light is out
