Official 290 Sundancer Thread

I've been looking for one as well. Sea Ray no longer has them in stock and none of the wholesalers I have contacted has them either. I'd love to find one, though.
Me too. If I cannot find one will probably try to have one built.

That looks great! I have looked at their website before and read good things from others who have installed one. Also like your trailer, are you happy with it? Who is the manufacturer?

That is not my boat. It’s a picture from the swim step manufacture of a 2006 sundancer. Several boats in my marina have them since it’s a local company.

What have you folks found to be a comfortable number of people to have on board. I know the USCG plate says 10 people but it seems like there's no way that would be any fun.

Adding the extended platform is absolutely essential.

What exactly is the rear sunpad? Where does it go? Or are you referring to the extended swim platform?

The rear sun pan was an option that attached into the base for the cockpit table. From the parts manual, it looks like it went in front of the aft seat over to the port step.

Some people questioned the practicality of the option because it is 1) huge/heavy and 2) rather pricey. I guess it could be difficult to store when not in use.

Do any of you guys have/use a rail mounted grill you like?

Anyone install a vesselview mobile? Where are the smart craft hubs located? Looked around from the access under steering wheel and don't see anything.

I purchased the vesselview mobile while it was on sale but my boat is still in storage so I haven’t tried to install it yet. I’ve seen where others have had to buy an adapter to make it work but I am definitely interested in learning from your experience.

I use to use a magma on the front bow rail with rail clamps. Worked great and secure enough that it can be left if you don't want to constantly remove it.

I had some work to get done and completed the following today. Replaced the STBD: outboard exhaust manifold, gaskets and riser gaskets, power steering pump / reservoir, crank shaft pulley, heat exchanger gaskets, oil, oil pressure sending unit, coolant. PORT: oil and coolant. And sent the back eisenglass enclosure out for new zippers and velcro.

Everything should be ready by this weekend for a beautiful Sunday cruise up to the San Juan Islands.

I had a rod holder installed on the aft port corner of the cockpit to hold a Magma grill on a rod holder mount. Easy to access from the swim platform, keeps the smoke out of the cockpit (grilling occurs when anchored so bow is typically pointed into the wind) and convenient to insert into or remove from the rod holder.

It is that time of the year! Also planning on the first cruise of the season this weekend.

That’s a good idea. I may try it.

I’m jealous you guys are getting on the water already. We’re celebrating having somewhat less ice on the lakes and river. Still about 8 weeks out here.

Just wanted to say hello.... Hope everyone is in the water by now. I have only been out a couple of times due to nasty weather here this spring.
If anyone is looking for a pristine single helm seat for a 2006-2007 290 let me know. I replaced mine with a double.

Good morning, Not looking for a single seat but very interested in how you changed to a double seat? We would like to do the same thing. Please let us know how you did it, could you send a picture?

Thank you so much,
Pat

Anyone know what the recessed pocket is at the rear seat under the cushion? It looks like it holds a table or something similar. My table stores underneath the engine hatch. I decided to install a custom sub enclosure there and have to shave off 1/2" of the recessed fiberglass to fit. There is a small port I'm hoping sound escapes from, as well as goes through the seat. Very difficult project so far, and not even sure how it will sound. I'll post more when I'm done.

On a side note, I finally found the secret compartment up at the bow!
