My old fresh water pump bit the dust two years ago and I asked the marine store to get me a replacement. Don't remember what I had on the boat but they gave me a JASCO PAR-MAX 4.0GPM "washdown pump". Said that was fine to use as a replacement.

This pump says it's 15 AMPS at 60 PSI and then the label says FUSE: 20A Required (not included).

This pump keeps tripping the breaker if running the shower or sink for more than 30 seconds-unless you barely have the water on. I suspect that 1) it's drawing too much power from the breaker and 2) they should have given me a "freshwater pump" and not a washdown pump and 3) never asked what the breaker rating was just the GPM - to be sure the breaker would hold.

Any help identifying the breaker size would be appreciated. I looked in my manuals but can't see the breaker rating for the freshwater pump in my documents and I just don't remember what pump rating I had in there.

What do you mean when you say it keeps shutting off? Pumps frequently shut off if you have an accumulator tank in the circuit so as to avoid running constantly for showers, flushing toilets, etc. Is it doing that or popping a breaker? Also, why not look at the label on the pump and repace like with like. That is what most people would do instead of letting a clerk at a store make a somewhat random selection.

Yea - it trips the breaker - will change that in the post. The old pump was out of production and the Marine Parts Store (I mean a real marine parts store with a only a parts counter (not a W__t Mari-e type). I took the pump in and questioned the difference between a wash-down and a freshwater pump. My fault for trusting a place that's been in business for 2 generations and 60 years.

Just found that the breaker is a 10 amp breaker. I need to find a low noise less than 10amp freshwater pump.

You need to look at amps and output. Shurflow makes many pumps that draw low amps. Some of them even put out high water pressure that could cause plumbing problems on your boat. You should look at the specs for your boat so see what SR installed on your boat when it was built. Less than 10 amps is not enough of a screen to select what you need. Go to the Shurflow website and read up on pumps, and you will find a recommendation that works for your application.
