Thanks to a hot tip I received from this fine forum I ordered (from Ebay) a set of more modern Sea Ray emblems for my '97. Today's project was to pop the old ones off and install the new ones. It took a bit longer than expected to clean off the goop from the old emblems but overall a very straight forward swap.

I couldn't be more pleased with the result. The photos are not the best but it turned out looking pretty fantastic (in my opinion). I'll also be adding the words "FOUR HUNDRED" under the new emblems later this spring. I need the admiral to do that job as my idea of "straight" and "properly spaced" generally leaves a lot to be desired.

While I was on Ebay I also happened upon a replacement Raymarine logo for my radar on the cheap. Today I removed the old "XX" which was half chipped off and replaced it. If you didn't look inside my cockpit you might not know I'm still running a 22 year old radar....:) My wife quickly pointed out that I should have picked the black logo...I guess you can't win 'em all.

Nice upgrades! Sometimes a little really does go a long way.

Looks great. This was one of the first upgrades I did with my 400 when I got it. Not cheap (I think I paid about $225), but a very nice and easy update. And like you, I spent a lot of time getting the glue off from the old emblem (but it did come off fairly easy). I think my next update will be to replace the cockpit sink with a stainless steel one and new faucet.

I'm curious to see how your four hundred lettering will turn out.

Also, I like your new radar scanner decal. I ended up getting one that said Raytheon, but it was slightly smaller text than the original. Like you, I hated the worn out original lettering. Someone I think on this site was saying he called Ray Marine to ask for replacements for his Raytheon decals and they don't him he should just update his electronics.

Looks great what size were those emblems ?

That looks great! I may have to do the same. I took my arch off a few years ago because it was bubbling & peeling badly. Had it stripped & repainted. I had the same emblems as yours & got them painted as well but never got around to reinstalling them. Those definitely look better!

Care to share what you paid for the emblems? I've been looking and the prices are crazy.

We did the exact same upgrades a few years back to the same boat. Vinyl guy was able to make me exact duplicates of the radar stickers. Even the little one on the GPS antenna! Had a new numeral 400 made doe the back last season. Little things go a long way!

Thanks for all the kind comments!

These are right around 12"x6". The new ones are just slightly undersized compared to the originals. Maybe an 1/8" shorter, same length though. It worked out perfectly since I could use the outline of the leftover goop (before I removed it) to align the new ones.

Yeah...they are not cheap. I paid right around $150....per side. I really.....really....really wanted to buy the same emblem but with the word "Yacht" below the Sea Ray logo but those bastages were $225 PER SIDE!

It looks so updated, now I would remove the script Sea Ray and not replace it.

MM

Yup....it's on the list. I will either remove and leave them off or replace them with a chrome/stainless version. The gold will likely not last the season.

I called Raymarine about the peeling Raytheon decals about seven years ago and they sent me a new Raymarine sticker at no cost. I ended up getting all new electronics though so I never used it.

Changing the cockpit sink was the first thing I did when I got my boat. Another small investment that made a big difference.
Hoping to get all new vinyl striping before I launch this year.
Sign (Vinyl) guy does a great job, but not sure he can get to me before I want to launch in the first week of April.

I did the SS sink swap on my 340 and loved it. I will repeat that project. Shoot, I think I spent less on the sink project than on those Sea Ray emblems!
