Since there seems to be a great number of knowledgeable people on here, I was wondering if any of you have heard of or used a site for auctioning vehicles called ( Bring a trailer ), bringatrailer.com

I have never used them but have been watching the site for a few months and I was thinking of putting my Porsche 911 on there for auction.

You can set a reserve and see what happens. You are going to save about 10% in fees over a traditional auction you would take your car to.

That was one of the things I liked about them it’s only 99 bucks to list and the buyer pays 5%. I was just wondering if anyone had any bad experiences.

Only had one friend who bid on a car did not sell one.

A friend of mine sold a vehicle on there and the despite the name of the site the buyer insisted that he pickup the shipping cost. Of course in the end rather than arguing, canceling the sale and going through the process again they picked up the shipping.

My friend also deals with brokering cars - while its a side business he handles all aspects of the sales. Sometimes it goes out retail other time he finds a wholesaler or retailer to buy it from you. If interested PM me your info and I will put you in touch - he can also give you an honest expectation of what the market looks like.

Not heard of them before. I'm not sure people looking for a P car would look for one at an auction like that one. Regional clubs, Excellence, and other related enthusiast publications seem to be go to places to market Porsches. Buyers tend to be very curious about condition, maintenance logs, and what not. Sort of like buying a used boat in a way. If you have success let me know. I'll be selling my 2018 718 towards the end of this summer.

You would be surprised they have sold well over a hundred in the last six to eight months, anywhere from 30 grand to one a 911r I watched go for 280 grand. It is a good mix of older and newer P cars there have been a lot of GT3’s and a 911R just in the past week.

P cars are going for stupid money right now.

Mine is a heavily modified 1975, and I ordered a Challenger Red Eye and my wife says I have to many toys so I guess it’s time for a change I have had the car for over 20 years.

I am surprised. Thanks for posting this thread. Not sure what I'm going to order next. It will be another Porsche of some type, and a convertible for sure.

Just thinking out loud but couldn’t you list it in here as well. Wondering if any of us may be interested.

I don’t think it is against any rules.

I was wondering that myself but I don’t think I have ever seen anyone advertise a vehicle on here and I did not want to impose on here.

But good question is it against the rules?

The only reason I asked the original question is there seems to be a very wide verity of people from all over the world and that auction site has vehicles from everywhere and I figured someone might have used them before.

Not sure if you checked out the site yet, but my car went live today. If you got to. bringatrailer.com just look up modified 1975 Porsche. Currently there are 25 different models up for auction.

Just looked at the car. It shows well with lot of photos. I'm wondering how auction selling prices compare to more traditional methods of selling such as classifieds in the well read Porsche magazines and Internet Porsche forums.

I am wondering the same I have been watching the site for some time and they seem to sell at a pretty good price but who knows. If it does not hit reserve I will be seeking other forums. I have a ton of money just in the suspension and the motor. I love the car and it is a very fun car it is just time for a change.

Don't know if you read "excellence" but the magazine has market updates for various models and what they sell for by condition. Porsche Club members are pretty knowledgeable about prices as well, and can help you sell a car via networking. I joined a club just to get the 10% discount on parts and service. More than pays for the membership.
