Here are some pix of neat boats we've seen over the years. Do any of you have similar pix?

The old woody is a triple cockpit real Chris, not a replica. Next one is a custom build by VanDam (I think that's the builder). Then a custom build owned by one of the Fishers, as in Fisher Body of Detroit. The last is a replica of one of Columbus' regatta of 1492.

A Fay & Bowen over 100 years old we saw last summer in Lake Charlexoix, MI. Sorry, forgot the name. Beautiful boat.

Schooner Bagheera that I used to sail on (Great Lakes, Caribbean, Panama Canal). Now a charter boat in Portland, ME. When I sailed on her she was sloop-rigged. She even has a brief Wikipedia page.

I sat this Formula in Grand Haven this summer. A diesel converted to outboards.

I'm sure some of you know the boat. MM

That took some thought to pull off. Wonder how the ride changed if at all. Outboards making an amazing comeback from the days of blue smoke.

It's a Fountain. I talked to the owner in Frankfort at the fuel dock. Quite a story behind it, but basically, they loved the boat and wanted to keep it. The diesels were in need of work, and so they made the decision to go to outboards. He said it handles like a dream. Better than the original set up. A very, very nice refurb.

Wonder if they increased the size of the fuel tanks to compensate for the weight of those outboards. Assume they are gasoline. Unusual swap to go to gas from diesel. Beautiful boat.

That was a brain fart on my part and now corrected.

Look up the Navy's Mark V boat... This boat came by us on the dock in Philadelphia one Memorial day doing high speed runs, then stopping and making hard turns in the middle of the Delaware River. Threw massive wakes. Had no idea what it was until I looked it up later and finally found a picture. 65+ mph.... Qty (2) 2285 hp MTUs. 82' in length... 17' beam. Capable of 20g forces on their passengers breaking bones. Massive. Ridiculous. Read about it.

Not so much a cool boat, but a cationary tale. This sailboat came into the local canals during

a very high tide & got stranded. That was 5+ years ago. It was somehow maneuvered to the seawall where it sits to this day.

The boat owner & the seawall/home owner are not the same people.

It could likely be extracted during a hurricane storm surge, but at this point, why?

Umm, because the owner wanted the dock back?

So this random boat sits at some random guy's dock? Annnd they don't know each other? And the dock owner hasn't asked him to move it? And the boat owner hasn't offered to move it?
