460 DA Owners Thread

The easiest spot would be to tie into the power outlet in the bilge. There is an access to pass a wire up to the area under the stbd arch from the bilge making it easy and out of sight.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Would you just plug it in there or actually splice into the power?

Thanks SO Much for your help.

That’s where I got my power. Installed a nice gfci outlet and cover under the stbd seat next to the steps so I could easily remove the seat back for access. I also installed it higher up so if I ever took on water I would have to worry. Works great.

Definitely do it right and add the wire in the junction box in the bilge. Make sure you use stranded wire.

Has anyone done this for your 460 head and shower?

How do you like it?

Who did you use?

Not me but I’ve wanted to and would love it if you were the test subject!

Haha! I love the way the look and with your new floors they would really look nice! I had the carpet guy come last Saturday and I’m just waiting on him to finish the interior.

While we are on the topic, what have people done with the ugly carpeted steps entering the cabin? I've already replaced the cabin flooring with a teak and holly floor, but haven't attacked the steps yet. Any pictures or advice would be appreciated.

Update on this .
I talked to Rick the owner today he lives in the Philippines cell number 305 762 2666.
If you template your boat he gives you 10% off and if you are a CSR member he gives you another 10% off. You are charged shipping and that is from Miami FL, to your home.

He said he didn’t have the template for a 460 however he said he did have it for another 400 model and he beleaves the master head, shower and guest head are the same on one of the 400 Sundancers. He thinks!

Does anyone know that to be true?

He can do a template however it takes him a while to find our boat in MIami to get one so that is why he offers the discount.

He said to do the master head, shower , gust head would be around 1,200.00.

Don't you have an outlet below and behind the helm seat? Tap in to that from the back side.

Thanks. I’ve posted them here a few times. There is a craftsman near us who is just awesome with woodworking.

Here is what I did in both my heads last Spring. We loved it and it worked great as well as easy to clean.
Corinthian Marine has my templates on file. Mention CSR and get the 10% discount.

Depends on your use, doesn't it?

If I'm watching TV in the main salon instead of the cockpit, then my wife likes to have her sofa in the aft cabin to read. So for a couple's use, the original set up works well because we only have guests on board occasionally. However when we do take guests on a longer trip, or even for a weekend, then that room becomes a bedroom in minutes. We deploy the bed arrangement and I usually have "the bed" out from the aft wall 10-12" to make it into a full queen size arrangement. I do that by tightly rolling a couple of blankets, setting them alongside the "mattress" against the aft wall and then covering the whole thing with a memory foam and then cover it with a bottom sheet (very comfortable arrangement). After the trip is over and the guests depart, it's back to being used as a second salon with a couch for seating.

We just like the looks of that large flowing area with two seating zones as opposed to boats that have a separate aft cabin and a smaller salon, but it's all a matter of preference. That is probably the main reason we never went to a 48DA, although we love that boat from other aspects.

Fortunately the design of the 460 is very versatile but if you are constantly using the aft stateroom for a bedroom then the option above is worth considering, just maybe not a real plus for the next potential owner.
Hi Jaws,
Just rereading your post in anticipation of an impending purchase of a 460DA: what size memory foam did you get?
Is the "bed' an actual queen size or full? I'm also curious about the salon "bed"?
Thanks!

Bob,
I believe the memory foam is 1 1/2" (might be 2", sorry, the boat's in winter storage) queen size and I bought it a WalMart. (I keep it rolled tightly and out of the way when not is use.) Throwing a blanket or two onto the "deployed" bed smooths out the gaps and the memory foam goes on top. As mentioned I keep the entire bed arrangement forward of the parked position (aft), placing a couple of rolled crocheted throws into the aft gap. When covered by a fitted sheet the entire arrangement is closer to the size of a queen size mattress rather than a double, I believe. Anyways, the guests find it quite comfortable.
The one issue when using the mid cabin as a guest sleeping quarter is air flow. A fan is a must because the opening ports are relatively small while the door is closed for privacy. The other modification is one that has worked well for us. The main AC system is in the salon under the "corner table". There are two air supplies and if you use some duct tape creatively and restrict the salon supply, therefore sending more air to the mid-cabin, you get better air flow to the mid-cabin. It's a home-made solution that seems to work and the modification is tucked away inside the AC supply plenum out-of-sight. Just a suggestion and takes 10 minutes of effort....
Good luck with your search. We've had our 460 for eleven years now and it's tough to justify changing to something else because it does so many things well.

Thanks James. Thats very helpful!

Al

I don’t have an exact answer but the overall length is 51’8” so if you take off 36” for the platform and say 48” for the bowsprit I would say that’s pretty close. 45’ overall is what I’m going with.

Out of curiosity why does it matter? I could measure next weekend.
