Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

Hi all, I'm new here. I just purchased a 2017 Sea Ray SPX 190 I/O with a 180hp 4.3L MPI. We are really enjoying it. I have noticed that I am not able to reach the max RPMs at WOT. I can only get hit about 3200-3400 and according to the manual should be at 4400-4800. I am running a 3 blade 17P prop that is the prop that came with the boat originally. I am due for the 100 hour service, so I'll have them take a look, but was interested in any other thoughts everyone here may have.

I too made the modification to support the port side seat, it was a breeze and makes a world of difference. Thanks for that tip!

I'm enjoying this forum!

Thanks!

Searay has a 5 year warranty. If you have any issues, send it back.

Thanks for info Bridog! I thought it provided more. I spoke to a Mercury parts guy about it and he said on my 2018 150, It did nor provide much info at all. He said I would be needing sensors installed and the overall cost would push up to 1K. I thought he was incorrect based on what I have read about this product. Guess I will not buy the module from him.
Not much info at all? What other information are you looking to get from the module? Your parts guy is wrong. You don't need any other sensors installed. We have the same set up as you. In order to get the detailed fuel info you just need to remember to enter/reset the gallons when you fill up. In our case 30. And installation is about as easy as can get, one connection and done. Took about 10 minutes including downloading the app.

The new SPX 190 OB still isn't here yet - still a few weeks away. I've been reading comments on this and other forums and see threads about the bilge pump and lack of complete draining.

I don't have access to a dealer model so I can't look. So, where IS the bilge pump located in the OB model and how do you access it?

Do you have the Rockford Fosgate pmx-2 Head unit installed?

FYI all - I did this same upgrade based on the above. Did the exact same thing, made a $75 offer on eBay, prewiring was in place. Super simple and makes all the difference in the world, as there is no hearing the rear speakers up front. Thanks for the idea GATORB8!

Got started on the audio upgrade to the base system tonight. Step 1, add bow speakers. I decided to grab another pair of Rockford Fosgate 6.5" Coax RM0652 to match the factory cockpit speakers. (FYI, a seller on ebay accepted my offer of $75 w/ free shipping for a new set) Other than tools and tape, nothing else was required as Sea Ray was nice enough to include the upgrade prewiring connected to the stock head unit, including standard female spade terminals. Taped them off, found the center, drew a circle, cut em out, and screwed them in. (make sure you use a shop vac for dust control)

Very worthwhile 1-2 hour, $75 upgrade for anyone with the base 2 speaker system.

Excuse the poor pics, getting dark by the time I finished up.

Did you also have the stock Rockford Fosgate PMX-2 Head unit installed?

I asked the dealer about this and they flat out told me no it’s not prewired and quoted me @$450 to buy/install two speakers.

Thanks!

On the 2016 it's under the main storage compartment. ( where the engine is on sterndrive models) It doesn't appear to be a simple access. Removing back and bottom screws, etc. Never needed to get in there and hope I don't need to. Maybe they improved things and made it easier with the 2019 model.

The web site is old news. The 2019's are in production now.

When we finally got serious and was ready to order, my dealer said they were now manufacturing 2019's. I asked for an update (since the web page was 2018), and the factory sent me a PDF showing the changes for 2019. Among them was a change in the stereo brand, upholstery changes, elimination of the "select" option in favor of an "appearance" option, and addition of snap in SeaDek. It was about $700 ABOVE the Infinity option, but the admiral said she liked it best so who was I to argue? (actually I liked it better myself. My son bought a new Crownline this year and the Seadek transom is so comfortable and COOLER than the Infinity he has in the cockpit, so it was a no brainer).

We expect delivery in late October. I'll certainly post pics if I remember...

Jim, if you still have that PDF could you please post it. Wondering if there is any mention of Sea Ray eliminating the "All Sport Package". It doesn't appear as a build option anymore after they updated the website but I'm being told that it's possibly still an available option by the guys at MarineMax. Thanks!

Here is what my dealer sent me. I know he got it from their Sales Manager at SeaRay, so I would imagine a big outfit like MarineMax would have the same contact.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures with the SeaDek in the entire cockpit. I love the SeaDek! I just went on the SR website and they still only list the SeaDek option for the swim platform. The only cockpit flooring options were the Infinity woven upgrade or the regular snap in carpet for the cockpit? I guess they haven't upgraded the site for the 2019's yet. Was it an expensive option? As to your request for more pictures...as far as I know no one did their entire cockpit in SeaDek. Some, like myself, added pieces to make it look more complete. Mostly on the walk through and the step leading to the cockpit.
She came in just this week. Here's a couple of pics. Unfortunately, with snow in the forecast I don't expect to do our first sea trial until Spring.

Same as mine. Unsnapping the carpet near that edge.
Ok, should have thought of that. I was thinking it was glued down like on my swim platform.
I have the snap on woven carpet, had a screw pull up out of the deck when I got home. Thinking wind grabbed it and pulled it out.

Looks great! I like that you also added the extra pieces on the walk through and step.
I didn't "add" them. That's the way it came through.

I would like to reprop my 21'SPX with Merc 150.
Would like suggestions on what to go with to give me better power for tubing. I am thinking 4 blade but not sure of pitch, currently 17. Thinking more low end torque and planing quicker.
Top end speed is not important. Mainly tubing the Grands and cruising at around 30 MPH or so.

Thanks.

I am running a 17” pitch 4 blade on my 19spx. If you are running a 17” 3 blade and want better performance for water sports then go with a 16” mercury 4 blade. The 4 blades give you better hole shot, lower planning speeds and better handling around the docks especially in reverse. You do give up some top speed with a 4 blade.

Thanks Jeremy, What prop brand and model did you go with?

Looks like Jeremy answered your question ... while I was trying to find a new , “live” link to the inter-active Mercury Marine Prop Selector I stumbled across last season:
https://www.mercurymarine.com/en/us/propellers/selector/#!/step-two

And then, there is also this one (which has a great selection on “How To Find The Right Prop”): https://acbprop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Quicksilver2018.pdf

This is a topic about which “I know Nuttink!” and so your question (and the answer(s) are more reasons why I’m glad I subscribed to this thread! :):p:D

Thanks ThorSen, Where in WNC are you? I have a place in Cashiers.
