I winterized last week and today went to pull the drive off for the winter as I usually do. When I separated the drive from the housing, I almost fell over after seeing this!!! I boat in salt water and I can't imagine how this happened? It looks like a fish somehow got in there but the maggots? Were they there when I pulled the boat? Do they live in salt water?
I have the "tube" for the lower bellows so I'm wondering if somehow a fish swam in there while I had the drive up.
Anyone ever have anything like this?

That is creepy looking! Looks like it could be an eel.

That is another good reason for salt water drives to be removed and inspected every year. Each year I split the drive, separating the upper and lower unit. There's always a few barnacles inside the lower unit water inlet, after just 6 months in the water.

I had a feeling this (alien) was going to be the response. I thought it was from outer space - the realized it's from the depths of the waters...
I swear this is no joke - I sprayed bug spray on the moving creatures in the driveway and in the drive. I took a video of it last night and showed it to folks here at work most people are puzzled.

WTF Boatboy...Just hope its a merican fresh water "Alien"
if Canadian DFO or Greenpeace hears of it.....out drives will be BAND from use...Lol

So the latest theory (guys at work) is a fish got into opening while the drive was up and obviously died in there, and while sitting in my driveway for a few weeks flys found it. I was not aware that the maggots start out as flys and lay eggs ??
I don’t know if that sounds right but maybe it’s conceivable. You should here me as I recorded the video - wtf is what I thought.
