Hey Guys, new to the Forum, my Boat is in storage far from me and I want to get prepared for next year.. Do you guys know what the Mercury oil filter part number is for a 2004 185 Sport with a 4.3l 190Hp, with the oil filter buried deep under the engine,,?

Napa Gold for my 93 4.3 is 1036. Not sure if they're the same or not, I would think they are.
I know you asked for Mercury, but you can cross reference it, or run Napa.

I use 10-454 Royal Purple on my 4.3. It's the short GM filter. Mine has the top mounted filter and little overhead clearance or I'd go for a longer version. This brand of filter is my go to. They are much heavier steel shells than an other brand I've seen.

my 07 with the 4.3 takes quicksilver 35-883702Q
Thanks, Looks like this is the one I'm looking for, Also, whats the difference between all the Genuine Mercury oils and Filters and the Made by Mercury Quicksilver stuff? THe quicksilver line is cheaper and not as good of quality??

They are exactly the same. One is dealer only, other is retail stores.

Did that oil filter end up working for you? I have an 04 also and am going to be changing it soon

There is a long and short filter that will work for a GM 4.3 with the block mounted filter. All of the Mercury/Quicksilver filters are the short ones. I personally like the long filter, so I use one of these, whichever is more convenient to pickup:

NAPA Gold - 1036
AC Delco - PF52
