OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

Hello all. I just purchased a 1997 250 Sundancer and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I do have a question though, does anyone have a digital copy of the Owners's Manual for this year/model? I have been unable to find one online anywhere and it would be quite helpful. Thanks in advance, and looking forward to sharing stories/questions/answers here.
Hi Mr. Colt,

I have a 1998 Sundancer 250 with all of the books and manuals. I can see about digitizing them and make them available to our group. It’s a great story how I acquired this boat so I’ll post it later. It’s great to be among other 250’s.

That would be great! Thank you for the assistance.

Go to Searay.com and click on the "Owners Resources" and you should find the digital collections. You should be able to find your year and model in there.

Much appreciate the assistance. I did try over there though and for some reason they don't have the 1997 250 Sundancer. Just unlucky I guess. :)

That's really weird? You might try a year on either side because they don't change them every year. Most of the 86 - 89 Rays are very similar. At least you'd have something very similar.

So while still doing some repair work on my new 1997 sundancer 250 I started to work on repairing the screens and gaskets on the portlights. I read a bunch of posts on here and ordered P100-04-RETRO for my replacement parts. However after taking out the old gasket and screen the new gasket doesn't fit. It fits in the frame just fine but sticks out too far and I cant close the window... any thoughts on this one? Do I have the wrong part?

Just finished making a cockpit cover for my dancer. I'm in the process of making a Bimini cover as well. Here is the 99% finished product. F1.jpg F2.jpg

What is the last yr SeaRay 250 DA had a bow rail that encompassed a walk around ledge? (I really don't like the newer designs where the only way to access the bow is through the windshield). I've heard people say that Sea Ray experienced a decrease in quality, if so, what years did it happen in your opinion?

I have a 98 250 and mine leak too. I have needed to replace them for 3 years now but havent found anyone to do it. I wont do it myself. I removed and re-sealed the top square porthole, installed new arms (previous broke) but the damn thing leaks. So I suck at that kind of work and will not attempt the portlights. My post has been useless I know. Have you completed the job?

My '98 has the rail and ledge. The ledge is so narrow, it's barely as wide as my foot so trying to walk along that is like just asking to fall off the boat. I always use the windshield to get to the bow and anchor.

Anyone in the St. Pete, FL area know where I could get portlights re-bedded? Preferably a mobile mechanic, not a Sea ray dealership.

Did you ever get those digitized?

Could someone with an 87 or around that year get me some dimensions on their fuel tank. Mine was swapped out for a 30 gallon and I'm pretty limited on my cruising range.

Hello all! I'm fairly new here, but have been doing a lot of reading. We just purchased a 1996 250 Sundancer and took it out for the first time this past Saturday. I ran into a few issues and I am hoping some of you can help or at least put my mind at ease!
  • I cannot get the entertainment radio to come on. I checked all of the switches and pushed what I assume is a breaker at the helm under all of the switches.
  • At 3300 RPM the boat would do about 23 MPH. Does that sound right? Seems a little low.
  • The switch on the throttle to raise the drive does not work. It will go down just fine and it will raise when the "trailer" button is pressed. Bad switch?
  • The trim tabs take some getting used to! It was kinda scary at first the way it leaned over. I thought I was heeled over sailing again!
  • I only have 1 set of keys. I saw that I can order the cabin door key with the correct code. Where can I get another ignition key? It has a replacement motor, but the ignition looks like it's original
Sorry for the 20 questions!

Thanks,

No responses, so I'm going to post some questions in other areas. That's the only reason I'll double post. I'll give it a little while longer begire posting again though.

Sometimes radios have an inline fuse. Take the radio out and it should be in the harness close to the radio. Get a test light and see if you have power to the radio there.

That's about how mine runs at 3300.

I'd think the switch is bad.

I had the same response to my tabs. First boat with them.

Not sure about keys. Try a locksmith.

Thanks Blt2rok!

I should've thought about an inline fuse. I'll check that.
I wonder where or if I can get a replacement switch on that throttle. I'll ask around about that.

Thanks,

Mine will do 25 at 3200 trimmed all the way up with two adults and full tanks, less with more people.

The trim up button only works if the solenoid for the up switch is working. Check it out and also the trim limit switch on the outdrive has to be set correct or it thinks it's to far up.

Trim tabs scared me several times, still learning them, second season with the boat.

I'm curious about the keys also. The ignition on mine is standard any boat. I need to replace my cabin lock. Way overpriced!

1997 Sea Ray Sundancer 250. I'm going through and want to replace all cabin bulbs with new LEDs. Anyone know what replacement bulbs I should be getting? Thanks in advance

Thanks Devildogae. Any idea how many gallons per hour you burn at that RPM / speed? We are planning a long weekend with some sightseeing and was trying to figure out what our fuel costs might be. I've heard anywhere from 1 mile per gallon to 5 miles per gallon...

Thanks,
