My mic cord is falling apart what have you guys done to repair replace. What radio is a direct fit without cutting the existing hole?

Many VHF units can fit using the filler plate that we sell. They fit the Ray215 opening and the drill holes match up. If interested PM or call me. Below is a picture from one of our customers and the one I had on my 260DA.

I have a 2004 SR 450 EB. The Ray Marine VHF cord has disintegrated. Anyone with the same problem have a solution? I called Ray Marine and while the didn't actually laugh at me, they told me I needed to replace the entire radio because they do not make a cord replacement.

I research this and I am sure you have. I purchased a new radio that's a little smaller and I am having KevinC make me a filler plate to install it on my boat. That's about the only option your going to have.

I just found a replacement cord at West Marine last week for $90. Had to order it from out of state...was a special order that was never picked up by the customer a year ago. Got super lucky...there might be one or two hanging around out there.

No problem. We can also fabricate almost all the panels now for the 340SDA and have the templates on file (working on the guage panel next). We custom cut the openings based on the equipment. I am also looking at other decorative options like Carbon Fiber and Brushed Metal finishes. We can also get the original panels from Tecnographics.

For things like the Ray215 Filler Panels these are designed to allow a smaller unit to be installed. The panel is pre-drilled to match the original Ray215 holes and we will be stocking pre-cut openings for a bunch of West Marine/Uniden, Lowrance/Simrad/B&G, Standard Horizon, and Icom models. We have expanded considerably. These are all cut from Black ABS and we are looking at King Starboard for other colors.

I replaced mine last year. I called West Marine and they placed it on order. I kept on getting e-mail's stating that it was on backorder. After 1 month I received the mike from Ray Marine. I kept on getting e-mails from West Marine for about a year. The final e-mail I got was it was not available.
I got real lucky.

I got my new filler plate from Kevin. I installed it and couldn't be happier . If you guys still have the old Raymarine VHF radio and your hand held mic cord is falling apart this is the way to go. Give Kevin a call and he will fix you up. I purchased a westmarine vhf585 and the new filler plate from Kevin. Looks like a factory installation!

The 320 I just bought was operated on a lake and the previous owner told me he never even used the radio once. The radio is there but not mic or cord. So I guess I may need once of Kevin’s custom plates as well. I will have this boat on the Kanawha River in Charleston, WV and we have very heavy coal barge traffic. You have to have a radio at night. We call the coal barges the Silent Killer

We have them available now for many of the popular current vhf radios and some older ones. If you have an particular one you are looking for drop me a line. You can PM me here or get my contact info at www.covemarine.com and give me a call.

Do the barges have AIS? If they do get a Standard Horizon GX2150 with the AIS receiver built in to place the barges on your plotter. It does not send out to them, but they do not care where you are anyway. LOL

I had a 215 and same thing happened. Cord disintegrated. I upgraded to a Ray 55 and ordered one of Kevin's filler plates. I couldn't be happier with how the installation turned out.

The Lowrance Link-8 also has an AIS receiver with NEMA2K compatibility. I am taking a serious look at it for an upgrade.
