Brunswick selling off Sea Ray brand

Thanks. Is the owner here to stay or just passing through? Just looked it up......relatively cheap at at $1,300,000 and rated for offshore service. Never heard of the company (no surprise).
They are neighbors of mine in West Michigan, taking it down in the fall, winter in the Keys and Bahamas. Not sure when they're returning and/or where they will eventually slip it. I was on it when they first pulled into GH...beautiful boat inside, steers it with a joystick, loaded to the gills with electronics and such. Definitely stands out! The blue is a wrap....

They just posted a story online from our local newspaper:https://www.grandhaventribune.com/l...terest-in-Grand-Haven.html?ci=stream&lp=1&p=1

I had a 48DA beforehand so moved from a Sundancer to a flybridge. The main reason was having kids and a lounge room with a view became a priority. We have a baby gate where the main door is and our toddler can run and dance around the lounge room burning off energy without us having to worry. The third bedroom was a big plus as well as is the main level galley.

Definitely a fan of the enclosed flybridge. Comfortable in all weather and air conditioned. Mine has a ladder for access which takes up less space than stairs. Personally I'd prefer stairs.

I also looked at a 52DB prior to the Riv and whilst it did some things better, I felt the engine bay was too tight. Having V-Drives on the 48DA, I was really looking for a spacious engine bay that was easy to get around this time.

I got the feeling that the 2008 era Riviera's were a step above that era of Maritimo. You probably need to have a look at some and get a feel for them. If I was looking again, and had a little bit more to spend I would find a Rivera 51 Enclosed with the internal staircase and MTUs.

Paul

Sorry I misread your signature as being a 48DB, but your reasons for the bridge versus the Sundancer are one of the reasons we are contemplating the move as well, the view and light in the salon on days when it's too hot/cold/wet to be outside all day is really nice.

I just don't see many enclosed bridge Riviera's currently listed and have never seen one with my own eyes here in the Northeast. I have a Maritimo that winters in the same yard as me, and know of 2-3 more in the immediate are that we have seen various places.

Thanks for the perspective.

It’s made by Absolute. It was docked a few times in Charlevoix and we also saw it on Mackinac Island. Quite honestly, I think it’s the ugliest boat I’ve ever seen. But what matters is that he and his family love it and seemed to be enjoying themselves at the marina. Oh, and I’m sure he thinks my boat is ugly too, so as someone already said above, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....

That Navetta is truly ugly but have you seen the interior? It's really beautiful! Makes you think that you could live with the ugly... I haven't seen one in person but would be curious to see the level of fit and finish.

Here's a story on that boat that's in our local newspaper today:

Not going to talk about the looks, it is taste specific... But I agree the interior is nice, looks very comfortable.

Good for them pursuing the Loop!!! I hope it fits under the bridge in Chicago, or it will be a round trip back to Grand Haven. It looks to be over 18' tall.. I googled it can't find a height anywhere..

I believe the limit is 19'1" for the bridge south of Chicago...

I think it's a pretty badass looking boat. I probably like it because it's 'atypical'. That is a lot of boat for 1.3M. I sure wouldn't want to pay his insurance or dockage bill!

What a difference 2 years make. In retrospect I’m sure Brunswick is happy that they couldn’t find a buyer for Searay! Can’t make em quick enough now. :)

I wonder if they regret shutting down the larger yacht business.

Probably not - building high profit boston whalers in the palm coast facility now - and they all come with high profit merc outboards NOT someone else's diesels

No question that exiting the big boat market meant no more Zeus pods or diesels ......both tied to the big boat line.

While I miss the big Sea Rays.....some of the mistakes Brunswick made were epic.

I say no. One of the reasons I was told they shut the Sport Yacht and Yachts down was because there quality was down. They wanted to fix the quality control issues and one of the ways they are accomplishing that is by concentrating on a smaller range of boats. Will they build yachts again? I say yes but not anytime soon and I don't see them building a boat over 50'. Why do I see them building a 50' boat again? The 50 was a good seller for them and its a size boat that they could sell once again. Plus they can build a 50 with outboards just like Formula is doing.
