40 sedan bridge forum

A mesh bag filled with clothes, a Tide pod tossed in, attach about 10 feet of rope and pull behind the swim platform while underway. About 12 knots provides good agitation......

I replaced mine with a Cruisair 16k turbo last year. At the time I paid $2300 from Citimarine (online) and installed it myself. Pretty straightforward removal and install. Units cost more now as they have gone through a slight redesign. Works with your existing SMX controller. If you decide to do this, give me a call Mike and I can give you more details.

Dear Bill
My air conditioning in the Salon still works fine, but it makes a lot of noise when it start, what is your experience with your new Cruisair 16K turbo, it is quieter, and colder? thinking to replace mine also. My salon es getting very hot in summer

As a point of reference, I replaced my salon AC with the STX16k 410A 115v. I also purchased the optional sound shield for the compressor. Whereas my original unit had grown incredibly loud, this one is silent to the point that you cannot hear it start and do not know whether the compressor is running or not. There was a $20 adapter required to utilize my original SMX controller.

The blower is noticeably more powerful than the old unit. So I hear the rush of moving air. The compressor seems a bit quieter but not noticeably. I don't have the optional compressor sound enclosure. It's really cold air.

Has anyone installed a washer/dryer combo on a late '90s model? I wonder if one would fit in the unused space under the stove; does anyone have the dimensions under the stove?
I looked at doing this. Not enough height. Would require modifications. Next place to consider would be where the fridge is located and getting a half height fridge, may have to move the micro. I opted to have my wife hand wash our clothes instead....just kidding on the last part.
Another location is under the bed in the fwd stateroom. It would take some work, but replacing the draws with a door would look great.

What is the everbody seeing on the power draw running the salon ac? I've noticed an increase, 17 amps (15 amps for compressor / blower, 2 amps for water pump). Seems high to me, and might be a sign of replacement soon.

My salon ac pulls 10 amps exactly. My stateroom ac pulls 9 amps exactly.

This morning I decided to take out the space saver coffee maker to upgrade to something that makes a decent cup. Has anyone removed the inner cabinet that the unit is housed in? Is the only option saws all?

Here are are a few pics of my exhaust progress.

Stock water cooled mixer. I cleaned up and confirmed it was leaking. The before picture looked like tar and rust. This is sandblasted

This is the tack welded riser. I added a 9" dry rise, and a downward slope mixer.

Here are the finished items with a thermo blanket. I really wanted to go with a hard coat epoxy shell, but that added another 6 weeks to the project. I was already cutting my time line close, and cannot afford the delay. The blanket will do just fine.

Port side installed. I have plenty of clearance to the flook.

So far I'm happy with the project. I'll run the boat in a few days

I just post some pictures in the thread Cummins 6cta about my exhaust leaking water, similar to yours.
Who did your custome exhaust?
Because you already did the template for a custom wet exhaust, it will be possible to buy it from your metal shop or from You directly.
I called Cummins and they are very expensive something like $2,560
I got a better deal with DeAngelo in Fort Lauderdale,
But it will be better to have a better one custom made like you did

So before I go troubleshooting... what switches turn on the the lights on the bottom of the arch? The cockpit switches? Or are there separate switches?

The switch labeled "spoiler" on the top row of switches at the helm.

Thanks ZZ13. That’s what I wanted to know!

Which pump is the "Sump pump" that's at the top of my Systems Monitor?
When I take off to get on plane, that alarm and light go on for a few seconds while the bow is up. It quickly goes off never to be heard from again.

That's the pump inside the shower sump box, John. Makes sense the water flows aft to the float switch when the bow rises, triggering the switch. No worries.

That’s what I initially thought, but then I thought, “why would SR put an alarm for that pump?” So if you’re in a long channel and someone’s washing dishes in the sink, or if someone washes their hands, an alarm will go off on the bridge? Seems pointless and only provides more stress....even if just for a few seconds.

Well, there are 5 pumps on the boat and there are 5 pump lights there, so it's gotta be it. On my digital display System Monitor, that pump is not alarmed. Either is the forward bilge pump and the aft bilge pump. The only two alarmed are the "emergency pump forward" (the one under the stateroom bunk) and the aft "emergency bilge pump" (the high water pump). So I guess the designers listened to feedback.

Thought I’d try to do my part to add some value to this great forum, in case it helps any newbies out there that, like me, are still figuring out how these great boats have been put together (and, therefore, what we need to do to take them apart/replace various items)… when I was looking to replace the old (ancient) white 0.9 cu ft Sharp Carousel microwave on my 2003 SB400, I couldn’t find anywhere that clearly documented what, where, when and how… so, see attached my annotated photo record of what I did together with how I did it… if anyone’s interested, I replaced it with a (stainless) 1.3 cu ft Panasonic microwave: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DPZD2MO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1... I hope it helps?
Tiger, what brand is the fridge? Model number? It’s beautiful!

Good morning fellow 400 DB boaters! Has anyone have experience with the horn, how to get at it, is there a small compressor that runs it? Replacement. Mine can barely be heard.

Yeah, you're probably right. The emergency pump (FWD) is the one that is directly aft of the vacu flushes, right?

Yes. Access is from the anchor locker. Yours should be on the stbd side and fairly accessible. The older 400DBs has the horn on the port side and it's very hard to get to. Mine didn't work at all. I removed it, took it apart, cleaned the thin plastic flappy thingies (technical term) which were very dirty, put it all back together and now it works great.
