As I sit under a Cabana by the pool having my breakfast (delivered by a lovely pool girl) at MYC, I cant think of a better place to be in the Northeast. My kids love this place, my wife loves this place and that makes it easy for me to love this place. Yes, it's a little costly but what about boating isn't? There may be less expensive alternatives but I haven't found any comparable to MYC. I also agree with the comments on Seaview, great quiet little marina, steps away from all the wild nightlife of FI in either direction. Little bit of a challenge getting into the marina though. I paid almost as much at Champlin's on Block last week without the Yacht Club feel, but that's not what I (or I bet most others) go to Block Island for. As others have said, lots of choices, you just have to find what's right for you. For my money, it's MYC....Paul, when do you arrive? We'll be in slip 644 till at least Thursday.
Yeh, the marina is tight, we were in the 2nd slip closest to the entrance (North Dock), and must have 50' (maybe) from pole to dock on the opposite side. No room for error (or a 58 ...Without a doubt the best marinas for protection in that area. Any place in Ocean Beach, or Ocean Bay Park are way too exposed to the bay. I found that the further towards the end (where I was) was affected by the ferry traffic and the occasional "big boat" passing on the outside. A buddy of mine was on the south dock (further in) and was not rocking half as much as ours. All in all, a cool place to visit.
MYC - I'll be passing you in the Ocean on Thursday. We're spending the weekend there, and shoving off the Champlins for the following week.
